(NightMares POV)
"Your master has died, yes?" The elder devil, Virus, asks me. I silently nod my head, as Midnight's death was still an open wound.
"Therefore I am giving you a new one. Mr.BeastMaker." He says. I lash out, breaking one of my chains on my leg. It redoes itself for the millionth time. I growl viciously.
"He killed my master. There is no way in heaven I'm going to serve him for millennia."
"Be careful, fore I am your only aid. Your a smart girl. You know what happens if you lose me, now don't you?"
"I don't give a flying fuck if you leave. Everyone important has left me, so why should I care about you?"
"You need to rise to your potential! Be what you are made to be!"
"And what is that?"
"AN UNSTOPPABLE KILLER! AN ACTUAL NIGHTMARE!" His voiced echoed, shaking the walls in the small office. My mind goes blink for a second. Then everything somewhat clears. I swallow the lump in my throat.
"You think I kill because I want to?" I ask him, staring at the plain concrete floor.
"Well, yes. Why else would you do it?" He asked, puzzled by my question. I rise off the floor and the chains slide off my body as if they were ice and I was Lava. I stare him right in his ugly eyes.
"I kill to keep the ones I love safe. I kill to cleanse the world of bad supernaturals, such as yourself. So I suggest you call off your demons, or they won't have an elder anymore." My eyes flicker from half black and white to full black.
"Impossible! No one has dared to beat me at anything! How are you supposed to?" He says with confidence, but I can hear the slight incline in his voice. And I could smell the scent of fear around him.
"Do you really wanna test your luck now, old timer?" I ask him, making the chains I was just in climb around his feet like snakes. He shakes his head.
"No, but before you go Satan-knows-where, can I ask you a question?" He says, covering his fear with curiosity.
"Fine. But be quick. Some of us have places they need to be." I said, impatient.
"Why have you and your sisters returned now? We are perfectly fine here in Hell!" He exclaimed. I laugh.
"Are you really?" I stop laughing and my face turns serious. "You demons have lost your way. Killing for fun, torturing in the old ways. Hell has been without a ruler for centuries. Zeus was a fool to let you be the elder." His eyes widened.
"There are still Gods?" He asks.
"Nope." I say and walk out of the office. I create a portal entrance and work on a spell that will take me strait to the Hathaway House.
"WAIT!" Someone screamed in the distance.
"Get lost. I got places to be." I said and continued chanting the spell. Someone twirled me around and slapped me in the face.
"Why, you little son of a b-" I stopped short. There before me stood my sister, Black Rose. She embraced me in a bear hug.
"If you ever tell me to get lost or finish that sentence, I will give you more than a slap across the face." She threatens.
"Yes ma'am." I laugh. Then stop. "Wheres Midnight?" I asked. Her eyes flashed with an emotion I didn't recognize.
"Come on. I'll show you."
-A Few Hours Later-
"How much further?" I ask. Not to be a pain, I just didn't want to run into someone I accidentally killed in the past.
"Not much. Look! Right there!" She says and starts jogging toward a light. Why in the heaven was there a light in Hell? Then I did a double take. It was Midnight. She was floating in the air, a light around her, almost like a halo. I have to admit, she looked better than Aphrodite herself.
"How do we get her out?" I asked. My sister shook her head.
"We don't. We can't. Our magic does nothing to her state. Trust me, I tried everything." She said with a sad undercurrent. I have to remember that Black Rose was with Midnight longer than I was.
"I'm sorry, Sis." I said, offering some sympathy.
"It's all right." She said and laughed without the humor. "I'm not the only one who misses her. Imagine what Tempest, Prancer, Apollo, and Sunscraper are feeling, not to mention everyone else in that house."
"Yeah." I said, thinking of all the good times I've had with-you know what? Not important. My sister turns to me, her rainbow eyes terrified.
"What? Whats wrong, Rose?" I ask, very concerned. I've only ever seen that face twice and those times never went down well.
"Dakota and Domino. Oh my god. How could I have been so blind?" She rambles, crossing her arms and pacing around Midnight.
"Dakota and Domino? What do they have to do with anything?" I ask, my eyes watching her every move carefully.
"They know. Oh my god, Midnight was trying to tell me before she died. Oh my god." She rattles on. I grab her roughly on the shoulders and stare deep into her rainbow eyes.
"What do they know?" I asked with urgency. She gulps.
"They know our sister, Eclipse. I know whose body she's in. Oh my god, NightMare! She's in her!" She yells, her eyes glazed over, telling me she was looking her her mind. I gripped her shoulders harder.
"SHE'S IN WHO?" I yelled at her, desperately. Her eyes focused on me.
"Stormy. She's in Stormy's body!"
(Tempest's POV)
"Come on. You got to eat." Avalanche pushed a sandwich to me across the counter.
"No." I say. He sighs wearily.
"Tempest, you haven't eaten anything in days."
"So?"
"So your gonna die if you don't eat. Or at least lose your strength."
"And?"
"Tempest, this is stupid. Eat."
"No." I push the food away from me.
"Yes." He pushes it toward me again.
"NO!I" I howl, taking the plate and throwing it. It hits the wall and shatters.
"DAMN IT! I MISS HER TOO! WE ALL MISS HER!" Avalanche yelled at me. I stood up so quickly, I would've put a Vampire to shame.
"BUT SHE WASN'T YOUR SISTER, WAS SHE? SHE WASN'T THE ONLY PERSON THERE FOR YOU NO MATTER WHAT, THE ONLY ONE WHO BELIEVED IN YOU WHEN NO ONE ELSE DID, THE ONE THAT CRIED WITH YOU AFTER YOUR FIRST BREAKUP, SHE WASN'T THE ONE WHO RAISED YOU BECAUSE YOUR PARENTS DIDN'T WANT YOU, WAS SHE? SHE WASN'T YOUR ROCK, THE ONE PERSON YOU COULD TRUST NOT TO TELL YOUR SECRETS, NOW WAS SHE?" I screamed my heart out at him, tears stinging my eyes. I ran up the stairs.
"Tempest!" Avalanche called after me. I ran into our room, Dakota and Domino let me through and stayed there after I slammed the door so hard, the frame shook. I collapsed on the bed, crying like never before.
"YOU SAID YOU WOULDN'T LEAVE ME, MIDNIGHT! WHERE ARE YOU NOW?" I yelled to the ceiling. It didn't respond. I laid on my side and pulled my knees to my chest. And I balled my heart out, wondering how I still had tears left.
(Prancer's POV)
"Hey, are you awake?" Sundancer asked lightly, his weight shifting the bed.
"Yeah." I sniffled.
"I made breakfast." He offered me a plate of all my favorites. I smiled.
"Thank you, but you know I can't eat anything right now." I said, my voice hoarse from crying.
"I know, I'm sorry. I just don't know what else to do." He says, setting the tray on his nightstand and sitting next to me on the bed.
"Stop dodging the fact that something has changed in this house and will never be the same again." I said, sitting up and grabbing his hand.
"I just..I don't know how to except it. I mean, Midnight was the very glue that held this place together. What are we gonna do without her?" He asked, a tear sliding down his cheek. I wipe it away with my other hand.
"We move on and be strong. I know it's going to be hard, but..we have to. Midnights gone and she isn't coming back." My voice cracked and I sobbed. Sundancer grabbed me and hugged me.
"I'm sorry." I choked out after a few sobs. "I thought I was over it but.." I sobbed again, tears spilling over my cheek.
"It's okay. Your okay." He says reassuringly. I can't help but wonder if anyone really is.
(Apollo's POV)
I grab the GMC SUV like it weighed nothing and tossed it in the air. As soon as I let it go, I shoot fire from my hands and burn it to ashes before it could hit the ground. My fire was wearing down and making me weak. I knew I would pass out if I didn't slow down, but if I slowed down I'd think of her. And I don't want to think of her.
"Hey, stop it." Sunscraper said, walking toward me from the forest.
"No." I said and repeated the process of tossing and burning.
"I can feel your power source emptying. Your gonna hurt yourself."
"No."
"Come on, Apollo. Stop being difficult." He says, a tone of determination in his voice.
"Go and get lost. Just go away." I say, not really wanting him to.
"Midnights dead. There. I said it. You can't just keep pushing your emotions d-" I threw a diesel ford truck at him. I didn't mean to hurt him, but I heard a sharp yelp as the truck hit him. I whined and shifted. I grabbed the truck in my mouth and threw it. It splintered a tree, but I didn't care. I shifted back and saw Sunscraper, bleeding from his leg.
"Are you okay?" I ask, looking for the source of the blood.
"It's from my heart, but I'll heal." He says, then grabs me by the neck, pulling me down with him. He fully embraced me and something in me broke. I cried like I never had. I never cry. But I did. Well, we did. We sat for God knows how long, crying in that field. I cried because I loved him. I cried because I missed Midnight, and I cried because I was raised not to. I cried because..
She was gone.
