The Prom

Its the morning of Prom and I had no motivation to get out of bed.

Last week I found James in bed with some girl from Coleview Heights.

He didn't know I was there but he definitely found out. Mason screamed at him while I stared in shock. Lets just say... I'm not exactly happy.

He's been trying to reach me all week. He's called, texted, even emailed every hour of everyday and I ignore him.

I don't know why it hurts so much. We weren't even dating.

Yes, I had major feelings for him, and I thought he had feelings for me but I guess not.

I received one text from him today, "Can't wait to see you tonight."

In which I replied with, nothing.

Evelyn was coming to pick me up tonight. She finally got her license and has been driving around to random places for a week. She's so excited.

I need to get mine, I just can't be bothered.

I contemplated on not even going, but we need to figure out who this psycho is. And the only way to do that is to go and find out, before they find us first.

"Okay, are you nearly ready? My parents want pictures before we go." She smiled, rolling her eyes. I nodded slowly, adding one last swipe of lipgloss across my lips before screwing on the cap. "I think I'm ready."

My dress was dark, forest green that I paired with white heels. I had a simple gold eyeshadow look with a basic nude lip. Whoever kissed me tonight will get my lipgloss all over them.

Yeah, I wish.

As I posed with a fake smile, watching the flash of the camera go off, it finally sunk in how much I was actually dreading going to this stupid dance.

The one guy I wanted to go with fucked me over. I'm not sure if it was a dare, if he was drunk or if he simply wanted to. Either way, it hurt.

"You okay? You're really quiet." Evelyn smiled. I nodded once, "Yeah no. This dress is really tight." I laughed, trying to ease the tension.

"Well, you look amazing." She winked.

"She's right." My breath hitched. I recognised that voice. I looked at Evelyn who gave me a short smile before ducking away.

Turning around, I saw James. He literally took my breath away.

He was dressed in a black suit with a black tie, black dress shoes but a dark green flower in his suit pocket to match my dress.

His hair was gelled, but not to gelled, and it had been styled in his usual, sexy yet messy way that I love. And, he'd shaved.

"If I wasn't so upset with you right now I'd say you look handsome." I said, choking back words I wanted to scream at him. He chuckled, "Well, I think you look absolutely beautiful."

His words were like honey. Soft and delicate. They vibrated against my cheek and his breath fanned my skin, "You are beautiful, so beautiful."

His hand cupped my face slowly and I pulled away.

He flinched quickly, pulling his hand down. He looked at me with an almost sad look in his eye. He was about to speak when the font door slammed shut and Evelyn appeared, "Ready to go?"

"Yep." I said quickly, slicing through the awkward tension.

Evelyn shuffled over to James's car, holding her dress up as he opened the door for her. She practically threw herself inside, shaking off the small snow flakes that landed on her shoulders.
