It had been a couple weeks, and it was nearing the end of the first quarter of school. Seeing as it was nearing a close, Oliver wanted to do something fun to celebrate surviving through one fourth of our senior year.
Of course, I didn't want to do anything extravagant. I would be just fine with a simple movie night at someone's house. Fingers crossed that's what Oliver was planning.
Over the course of the weeks since the scavenger hunt, Hunter and I had continued talking. We became well acquainted over our friends, especially as Oliver was my partner in Biology. Plus, since Oliver was slowly growing closer to Skylar and Harper continuously ditched me to try and break Logan out of his shell, we kind of drifted together.
Harper still liked Logan, and he seemed to return the feeling although he never showed it. Instead, he continued talking to her, making her one of the small number of people he actively talked to. Harper was thrilled. On the drive back to my house, she would rant about him and what she had learnt that day.
So far, nothing had tipped me off about him. So I approved. For now. Harper and I had also fully accepted Skylar into our little duo, making us a trio. She fit in well, Harper's enthusiasm, Skylar's calmness and my neutrality made us a perfect little trio. Skylar had been getting closer to Oliver too, making it known of her slight crush on him. Though, she'd never admit it, especially not to his face.
Even though I didn't know Skylar or Oliver very well, they seemed like a good match. His enthusiasm and her cool-headedness balanced each other out. Although, I wasn't sure if Oliver would ever man-up enough to ask her out..
Hunter and I had slowly grown closer, being shoved together as our friends continuously partnered off, leaving us on our own. It didn't necessarily bother me, but I much preferred Harper's company to Hunter's. Harper understood me, and knew more about me than anyone else. Hunter, knew practically nothing, through no fault of his own however, I just hadn't known him long enough to trust him.
Speaking of them, the boys had just walked up to Harper and I as we stood together in front of my locker. I watched as Harper stopped talking about her dog to turn slightly towards the boys, more specifically Logan, as they approached. When they finally stopped in front of us, I caught the final snippets of their previous conversation.
"Dude no, Call of Duty is better than Halo, for sure." Oliver's statement was made clearly, although both Hunter and Logan rolled their eyes at him.
Hunter was first to speak, "Obviously not, Halo is so much better storyline wise." Oliver was quick with his rebuttal.
"So? A good storyline is no match for being able to customize weapons, plus the multiplayer is better." Logan then chose that moment to chime in.
"Call of Duty has better graphics, but is harder to play multiplayer when you're in the same room. Halo has good graphics, a great storyline and is good for multiplayer. Halo's just better." Hunter was quick to nod in agreement while Oliver simply shook his head.
With their little debate over with, they then turned to us, Skylar had joined us while they were still arguing, and nodded in greeting. I nodded in return while Harper was in the middle of her greeting when the bell rang, sending us all in different directions. I waved to Harper before heading to my history classroom.
My classes up till lunch passed rather quickly, I just took simple notes while also gazing out the window when my seat was close enough to it to not look as though I was staring at the person next to me.
I was usually one of the first people to sit at the table, grabbing lunch and sitting down before many of the other students had even entered the cafeteria. I had gotten lucky, my class before lunch was right down the hall from the cafeteria, making it easy to get my lunch before the long line formed. Harper wasn't as lucky, usually taking several minutes longer than me to get her lunch and reach the table.
Once everyone was seated, muffled conversations would arise, usually consisting of the boys talking about football or Harper ranting about some guy in her math class. I noticed, however, that whenever Harper would mention another guy, Logan would look at her quickly before looking away. Occasionally, when Harper would get super into talking about a guy, his fist would clench slightly before he would move it off of the table and turn to one of the boys seated next to him and start a conversation about practically nothing.
I would let a small smirk grace my features for a few moments whenever I noticed him, I found it funny that he would get worked up over Harper talking about boys she would never date. It was funnier that the guy she would likely date was always the one sitting right across from her.
Harper and I started a small conversation about chemistry, as we had the same teacher just different class periods. It wasn't too long before Skylar showed up with her packed lunch, sitting on the other side of Harper and joining in on our complaints about chemistry. The boys always came together, no matter if they were early or late, they always showed up together. Which was slightly creepy at times, especially since one of their classes was on the other side of campus.
Once the boys appeared and seated themselves, the table got much louder, especially when they would be arguing over something dumb like this morning. Today, it seemed like argue over all the video games day. I wasn't sure what game they were going on about now, all I knew was that this time Oliver and Logan were arguing against whatever Hunter was saying.
Turning my head slightly, I tuned into the question that Skylar had asked Harper. "So, what kind of dog do you have?"
"A doberman. Her name is Coco, I've had her since I was twelve. Here, I'll show you a picture." Harper whipped out her phone, quickly scrolling through her pictures before tapping on one and turning the phone towards Skylar.
"Awww, she's so cute! I don't have any dogs, just a grumpy cat." The two of them laughed and continued talking about their animals. I listened quietly while the two of them continued to 'aw' over each other's animals. The boys continued their argument for a bit without interfering with the girl's conversation. Until my shoulder got nudged.
Oliver was the one who nudged me, obviously requesting my attention. "What's up?" I asked, wondering why he had nudged me when he had been animatedly talking with the boys just moments before.
"Which one do you prefer, Forza or GTA?" I froze slightly, confusion spreading across my features.
"Uhhh, what are those?" Oliver was the first to react exclaiming something incoherent before groaning into his arms as he folded over. Logan simply shook his head while Hunter just sighed.
I remained confused, not sure whether knowing about those games was actually important to them or not. I figured that I didn't need to know them, although it appeared that Oliver found it disappointing that I did not know them. Hunter was the first to speak, "Don't worry about it, Lizzie. Oliver is just overdramatic." I nodded, a small smile appearing on my face at the reassurance that I had done nothing to upset anyone.
Oliver then attempted to explain the games to me, which most of it I understood, other than the reason that they were arguing about which was better. Finally, Harper was the one who brought up the question I had been thinking of earlier.
"So, Oliver. What are you planning for this week's get together?" We all turned towards him, not one of us knowing what he had planned.
"Well, for tomorrow, since it's Friday, we could just have a sleep-over at someone's house, probably mine, and just watch movies and stuff. But, for Halloween, I'm going to host a party, so maybe we could also get costumes this weekend?" Oliver responded. I let my shoulders relax a little, knowing that this get together would be easy, it was the party I would have to find a way to get out of going.
Oliver's parties weren't necessarily bad, but they were usually crowded and the music was always way too loud; basically a regular high school party. I had only been to one in the past, Harper having to physically drag me there. Even then, I was there for all of ten minutes before Harper decided that they should go bowling instead.
Hopefully, Harper would take my side and we could spend the night walking around the neighborhood instead of at a halloween party where there would likely be alcohol.
"Yeah, sounds good. What time tomorrow, Ollie?" Oliver was quick to huff and Logan's nickname for him.
"Not sure I should even respond to that, but would like 5 work for you guys?" Everyone nodded their heads. "Okay, I'll run to the store and get snacks and stuff tonight." The bell rang as he finished his sentence. The group split up, easily merging into the crowd of students that were flowing out of the cafeteria and heading to class.

Hey y'all So sorry for the long absence, it's been a long few months since the last update. I have been trying to write more often, just trying to find the motivation and time has been hard. Either way, hope you enjoyed this longer chapter! I also changed the summary of this book to a new one, though the old one is still in the Before You Read section. Have a great week and stay safe!
