With a backpack slung around her shoulder, Lyric marched straight up to the Hudson-Hummel's front door. She rapt her knuckles on the door before running her hands through her hair. Nervously, she rocked on her heels until Mrs. Hudson opened the door.

"Lyric," She smiled. obviously not expecting the young girl. "I thought Finn said you guys didn't have any plans today?"

The blonde blinked, nodding her head in agreement. She thought it was cute that Finn talked about the two of them with his mother. It was always clear to Lyric how close the mother and son.

"He doesn't know I'm here." Lyric explained, her voice trailing off at the end. Carole tilted her head. Lyric took that as her window of opportunity to explain. She pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "Finn said that he was gonna start his petition letter today. You know, the one to get his dad's discharge status changed to honorable and I thought maybe I could help. Or at least keep him company."

Carole's gaze met Lyric's as she gave the girl a smile. Lyric watched as she stepped aside and opened the door wider for Lyric to enter. It was quiet. Lyric wasn't used to their house being this silent, not when Sam, Finn, and Kurt all lived here. She was used to hearing Sam and Finn watch some sports game while Kurt drowned out the sound of their tv with his as he watched America's Next Top Model.

Lyric followed closely behind Carole as she sauntered into the kitchen after closing the door behind the girl. The older woman opened the fridge, handing Lyric a water bottle. The blonde tipped the bottle towards Carole with a gracious smile.

"You know. I'm glad that you two ended up together." Carole said as Lyric untwisted the cap to take sip. The young girl bit back her smile, watching Finn's mom. "Quinn and Rachel are nice girls, but I had a feeling that it was going to be you."

Lyric couldn't stop herself from asking. "How? I had no clue."

Carole lifted her shoulders, dropping them with a light sigh. "Mother's intuition. Also, he never talked about the other girls the way he talked about you. And honey, he was always talking about you."

A warmth spread through out her body. She knew how Finn felt about her now, but hearing someone talk about before they were together sent a weird sense of pride through her.

"He's upstairs in his room." Carole pointed towards the stairs. Lyric gave her a pressed her lips together into a smile. And right before she could leave the kitchen, she heard Carole's voice. "Just keep the door open."

Her sneaker took her up the stairs and directly in front of Finn's door. She could hear music blasting from inside, so it didn't surprise her when her knock went unanswered. Lyric pushed the door open slowly, her eyes glancing around Finn's room. She smiled when she saw him sitting at his desk, typing away on his laptop with his back to her.

The song, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For by U2 blasted through his speaker as Lyric let herself in. A smirk grew on her face as her eyes darted around his room from the pictures of them to all the ripped out pieces of notebook paper littered with sweet nothings in her handwriting that were once shoved in his locker. Lyric snuck up behind him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders causing him to jump. "Say you have the best girlfriend in the world."
