BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. The sound of my alarm clock awakens me from my dream.
6:30 a.m.
"MIAAAA KRISTIN WILLIAMS!," I hear my mom yell from downstairs. "Turn that thing off and get out of bed." I moan and roll over banging my pillow against the back of my head ignoring her request. Today is my first day of high school. Yay. I have no idea what to expect. It seems to me either people love it or hate it. I mean making friends has never been exactly easy for me but it's only a slight struggle for me right? I am interrupted from my thoughts by my mother who feels the need to turn on all the lights in my room, turn on the fan, and rip all the covers off of my bed, and then finally turning off my alarm clock leaving me cold, dazed, and with blurry vision.
"Thanks mom," I mumble my face squished between my mattress and my pillow.
She takes a different pillow off of the floor and smacks me each time she says a word "You. Need. To. Get. Up. So. You. Are. Not. Late."
"Ok mom I'm up, I'm up, geez." I sit up and look at the clock again 6:45. Oh God I really do need to hurry up. I race down the hallway to the bathroom to brush my teeth then run back to choose my outfit. Wait what do you wear on the first day of high school? Jeans? A cute skirt and matching shirt? I decided to play it safe and grab a navy blue mini skirt with a light blue flowy top to bring out my blue eyes. I quickly dress and run back to the bathroom once again to do my makeup. For the first time this morning I look at my face and gasp in horror. Makeup is smeared all around my face. I undid the braid holding my hair and prayed that it would look acceptable and to my satisfaction it actually looked better than usual. My dark brown hair cascaded nicely down to my lower back in loose curls. I wash my face and quickly apply makeup. It's a too light of a shade for my skintone after tanning all summer but I don't have time to worry about that. Gathering my purse and school supplies I leap down the stairs taking two at a time, running into my mom as we race to the car so I'm not late for the first day.
