just a quick but highly important PSA! many of you may be aware of this already, but i'd like to bring it up here since it's related to this book to some extent. it's also worth repeating anyways, so here:

please don't use these instagram font generator "fonts".

i found a good article explaining why these fonts are bad:

(^^ just copy and paste this link into your browser search bar if you are interested in reading deeper into it.)

essentially, these instagram fonts are not actually typefaces or fonts. they are made up of unicode* characters that are not scannable. this means they are basically a sort of code that can't be read by screen readers. it would sound like mathematical code when played aloud.

for example: the word cute, read by a screen reader would spell each letter separately and sound something like: "mathematical script small c, mathematical script small u, mathematical script small t, mathematical script small e" instead of just reading it out as the word "cute".

frankly, these "aesthetic" fonts are just ableist to people with visual impairments, etc. when used in posts, assistive technologies will splutter code and the meaning of the post is not understandable. there is no point to using them in the first place. they are not accessible. they are not cool or aesthetic. they kind of look ugly anyways. please just do not use them.

thank you for reading this psa! xo, som <3
