I picked at my breakfast, my fork stabbing the strawberries in my pancakes aggressively. I was having the infinite battle with myself of whether I should or should not inform Edward about this- If I didn't, I could pretend like the call never happened. And I didn't have to meet her.
I continued my contemplating as I stabbed a blueberry, the particles mindlessly falling on the floor. I grit my teeth in annoyance.
"Stop playing with your food." Edward said, eating along with me. "You're not a child anymore." His voice was nonchalant as ever, maybe a little worse. He looked as if he had been told some bad news this morning. All I wanted to avoid was to get on his bad side today.
Yet, I pointed my fork at him, to annoy him more. "Don't tell me what to do."
Edward showed a small sign of exasperation in his emotionless face. "I'm simply saying, that if you could learn some basic manners once in a while, it would make you seem...
A little less immature. Be glad that I'm eating with you right now, or else I'd be gone to the main dining hall instead."
"I didn't ask for you to be here."
"I had to because if I didn't, you'd paint the whole place with fruits, like the absolute child you are."
I grit my teeth, to keep my mouth shut. Now was not the time to argue. Saying another word would just cause a commotion. So, I just went back to eating. Back to where I was, ah yes, Stella McCarthy.
Hmm.. Maybe I can tell him now.. This might be the perfect moment to talk about Stella inviting us. McCarthy gets really bothersome, so if I ignore the call now, we'll probably be called once again.
I took a big bite of my pancake as I spoke. "Hwey Edwashd-" My mouth was full of food and thus, the words in my mouth were incomprehensible. This was so immature, but if it makes him lose his sanity, then why not?
"Chew before you talk!" He boomed, wiping his face for any invisible pancake particles.
I rolled my eyes at his disgusted face and gulped the pancake piece. "Yeah, anyways-"
"Don't talk while eating. Manners! We'll talk about whatever this is after our meal." He said, getting up and disposing his plate. His didn't even wait for me to finish and disappeared from my sight.
What a dickhead.
Just then, Edward returned to the kitchen for placing back a mug. I stabbed the fruits in my pancake with great force, placing them dramatically in my mouth to showcase my anger.
He sighed heavily, pinching his nose in frustration. "Just eat quickly."
I rolled my eyes and tried to finish my breakfast.
After taking the last bite of the pancakes, I placed my plate in the dishwasher as I took a seat on the leather couch.
"Stella McCarthy called. She's inviting us to-"
Edward interrupted me. "I know already. She informed me earlier."
I blinked rapidly in surprise. "Oh! I didn't know..." I muttered slowly.
"Well know you know... Is this why you were so cranky the morning?" He asked, his expression neutral as ever.
I rubbed my neck in confusion. He noticed me..? That was oddly surprising of him.
I just nodded my head. "I guess so."
He ran a hand through his hair and put his coat on. "I've gotten all the details already."
