He loved her. Elena felt that he did it when their eyes met. Once before, she had been afraid to look into his eyes, seeing nothing in them but a desire for revenge.

"Don't touch me, Kai," she spat out, wanting to tear off his face.

Kai didn't pay attention to her tone, as if she said something careless instead of threatening him. "But you're so touching," he said in a childish voice. "Why should I deny myself this?"

The back of his finger slid across her cheek, and Elena closed her eyes, trying to contain her emotions.

"I'll kill you," Elena vowed, but Kai just laughed.

"Not if I kill you first." He sported a cheeky grin, and Elena could only hope that everything he planned wouldn't last forever.

Elena knew exactly what she was thinking about him then. She couldn't hate him, but she was so close to that feeling. Although everything has changed in one simple action.

Kai saved her.

How could it be that a man who wanted nothing more than to see her dead saved her from the deadly clutches of a Vampire Hunter.

"No one will kill you but me," he reasoned.

Elena didn't believe him, not because of the way he looked at her.
It was the light that caught her eye every time she met Kai. She would have thrown him at some gate, but since he came for her, everything looked different.

The glitter looked innocent, even playful. Something I would like to do with someone close to them. And the fact that they were closest to each other was not entirely pleasant in Elena's eyes.
Until he came to her.

Kai seemed determined to say something, but obviously couldn't find the words. He was pacing in front of her, clutching at her hair.

"I want to hate you so much," he said. "I want to see the people around you suffer from your death."

Elena opened her mouth to say something, but Kai quickly silenced her by speaking again.

"And yet I can't!" "Stop it!" he shouted. "I can't hate you. I can't kill
