(Hello everyone. Apologies for not updating recently. I have had a lot of things to sort out but I'm back with a new chapter!)
"Things were going well with Operation Big Wave, but then everything fizzled out when that Phantom Ruby kicked in." Knuckles said annoyed.
"That fake Shadow was created using the Phantom Ruby's power, right? Even if it's a virtual reality projection, it's as strong as the real Shadow." Silver says.
"Rouge, have you found the intel I was looking for?" Shadow asks.
"No, not yet. But I have reports that Eggman's database is located at the Chemical Plant. If we can check that out, we might find something there." Rouge says.
"That sounds like a promising lead. We have to figure out the secret behind Infinite's power and virtual reality. Tails, can you handle this?" Sonic asks.
"Got it. I'll take Sonic--I mean, the other Sonic-- with me and head to the Chemical Plant!"
(Time Skip)
"I don't like sitting on the bench, but there's nothing to do till Tails gets back." Knuckles complains.
"Way to jinx it! Metal Sonic has been spotted in the city!" Amy exclaims.
"Is it another fake?"
"Why would they bother making a fake out of something that already isn't real? Couldn't they just build more? Either way, it's getting wrecked! Let's go, partner!" Sonic winked at you and you blushed slightly before running out of the room with him.
(Time Skip)
You and Sonic sped down the path, keeping an eye out for Metal Sonic.
"Watch out. Metal Sonic was last spotted near here." Amy informs. All of a sudden, the path crumbles and a Death Egg robot emerges. You and Sonic luckily land safely on a ledge.
"Phew, that was a close one." Sonic says. You grab his hand and fire your grapple hook at the robot, swinging around it.
"It's lights out for you." Sonic says before spindashing into it.
"Good work." Sonic gives you a thumbs up and you smile. You land in a tunnel and run out onto the path. Metal Sonic suddenly appears but he's giant. You and Sonic deliver several attacks before high-fiving and double boosting towards him, delivering the fatal blow. The replica trys to steady itself before exploding.
Sonic walks up beside you, who is panting heavily following your fight with the Metal Sonic replica.
"Hey! That was great! We were like a well-oiled machine... fighting a well-oiled machine." Sonic raises his fist to you. You look at Sonic, who gives an approving nod. You smile and chuckle, before fist bumping with Sonic.
(Time Skip)
"I got it, Sonic! I figured out a way to stop Eggman's Phantom Ruby!"
"Great work, Tails!"
"Based on these readings, the Phantom Ruby requires an incredible amount of energy, which only the Death Egg can provide. We simply stop the energy transfer, and boom, the Phantom Ruby is practically useless." he says.
"Simply? Last I checked the Death Egg is a heavily fortified... well, Death Egg." Knuckles says.
"True. But I came up with a plan. First, we distract Eggman. While he's not paying attention, we use the Chemical Plant computer to hack into the Death Egg's weapons systems and shut it down. With no weapons, destroying the Death Egg will be a piece of cake. No Death Egg, means the Phantom Ruby is nearly useless." Tails expands his plan.
"Well, you know, it's just crazy enough to work. So first we need a distraction. I'm on it!"
"No way, Knuckles. You're too easily distracted. That's not a good trait for a distraction. Plus, you're our commander! We kinda need you here." Amy says.
"How about the rookie? Eggman would never expect it. It may even throw him off a little." Silver suggests.
"Good idea! You got your orders, rookie. We only have one more day before Eggman's plan is executed, so let's hustle!" Knuckles says.
(Time Skip)
"I'm almost at the Chemical Plant. How's (Y/N) doing with the distraction?" Sonic asks.
"So far so good. We might have to stop using the nickname "rookie" if the kid keeps this up." Knuckles says.
"Next, we've got to get to the computers at the Chemical Plant and shut down the Death Egg's weapons system." Tails informs.
"Perfect. I've been waiting for my turn to bust some heads!" Sonic smirks.
"The Death Egg's weapon systems are down! Now is your chance! Move!" Rouge Exclaims.
"Hurry! Just destroy the Death Egg and cut off the power supply!"
"You're making it sound like a walk in the park. This is the Death Egg!" Vector says.
"Don't sweat it. The other Sonic has this under control."
(Time Skip)
A few minutes later, the Death Egg is seen suffering numerous explosions around its hull before it is destroyed in a single large explosion.
Everyone cheers as they see the Death Egg is destroyed.
As you all celebrate your eyes meet Sonic's as he smiles at you. You return it shyly.
"You did it! The Phantom Ruby's power should be down to almost nothing!"
