"One day when I was younger, our parents took us to New Oasis, where my uncle and cousins lived. Our car stopped in the middle of cornfields. While our dad was trying to fix it, I was staring out the window, a blanket over my head. Eventually, he fixed the car and we made it to uncle.

I was excited because I wanted to work with the animals but my uncle gave away all the "cool" chores and made up one for me. I bit my lip but I said okay and went to watch the hens. I drew in dirt with a stick for a while. I had silly hat on. Then, I heard something from behind the little barn. The barn was close to the forest by the way.

I get close and my legs freeze in fear. There was this giant fox. You wouldn't know it was a fox if it wasn't for the subtle characteristics. It had yellow fur and when it's eyes met mine I noticed it had no pupils, but a whole galaxy in it's eyes.

We stare at each other for a while. Everything that happened next is a blank. I think it just left and returned to the forest. An that was it, my strangest story.

Morning had come to an end. The sundown intruded, turning most things in the city a burning orange hue.

Said hue entered Elliot's classroom. He sat in front of it, by the teacher, who had just finished reading his assignment.

Elliot sat straight, yet kept his head low. He hid his twitchy hands behind his waist.

'A few grammatical errors,' The teacher spoke. 'I like your story but I feel like it lacked - expression.'

Elliot shrugged, avoiding eye contact.

'You can sit back down.' She handed him the paper back. Along it, his sketched on notebook.

'Couldn't he talk? What, he's too lazy?' Voices made their way to Elliot's ears.

'Maybe he's just shy,' One classmate whispered.

'No way. Last week he literally threw a fit! Yiu could hear him yell hallways away.'

Elliot sat down in the first row, second to last seat.

'You're all dismissed!' The teacher announced. 'I wish you all to enjoy yourselves during the holiday.'

'Thank you, miss!' The class rushed out.

Elliot sighed.

Autumn was about to get worse.
