Théodora

When we returned home, I went straight to bed. I've been feeling tired after the meeting with Gaya.

I slept through the whole car ride home, but now I'm only tossing and turning in my bed. Not able to unsee the images Gaya caused me to see when she touched my hand.

I roll out of bed and head downstairs to make myself some tea. But I stop in my tracks on the stairs when I hear noises coming from Azrael's home office.

"Do you think she was telling the truth?" I hear Samuel ask. "Well, you should probably know best since you used to fuck her." Azrael replies. What?

"Dude, that was ages ago. Maybe we should visit her again and let Diablo use his gift on her." Samuel says again but quickly got irrupted by Ash.

"We need to discuss this with Théodora first. It's her life, maybe she's okay with the information we have now and don't want us to find out any more." He says.

"What do you think?" I jump out of surprise and turn around to see Diablo standing behind me. "You can't sneak up on me like that!" I whisper yell as I punch him in the arm.

"Well, isn't that what you're doing? Sneaking around." He says with a smirk when I sit down on the stairs.

I sigh and he sits down next to me. "How are you feeling about this?" He asks me.

"Well, we already knew I wasn't fully human, but to hear it from Gaya, another vampire, it does kind of freak me out." I say and Diablo nods.

"It's a lot to take in." He replies. I play with the string of my comfy shorts, which I changed into before I went to bed.

"She made me see something." I say cautiously. Diablo grabs my hands and I force myself to look up to him.

"You can tell us anything, Théodora." He says with a curious yet comforting look on his face.

I nod and take a deep breath before I open my mouth to speak. "When she touched my hand... I saw myself lying in a basket in front of the foster home. That's how I was dropped off."

He looks at me with a hint of surprise before he gives me a small nod. "Did you see anything else?" He asks but I shake my head.

"No, I don't really have a good memory of me as a child, let alone as a baby. It did kind of freaked me out though." I say as Diablo puts an arm around me.

"You're a lot more capable than you think you are Théodora. You just have to open yourself up to it. If you want to give Gaya another visit, we can." He says and I lean more into his embrace.

Is it true? Am I capable of much more than fast healing and great hearing? Does Diablo know something more?

I could ask him to use his gift on me, so we can figure that out. But it scares me though, what if I do unconsciously know more about my past? Do I want to know what happened to me?

I feel myself getting tired again and that I'm not ready to find out the truth yet.

"Thank you, Diablo." I say and I give him a kiss on his cheek before I stand up and make the cup of tea I came down for in the first place.

On the next day I walk into the office and head for Caitlyn's desk.

I feel much more rested after my good night of sleep. I force myself not to think about the other day too much and just live my life.

"Good morning." I say with a smile on my face when I reached Caitlyn. "Hey, you look happy." She returns my smile.

I shrug. "I'm just living my life the best I can." She laughs and shakes her head. "Okay?" She asks questionably.
