a/n: I don't know how to write playscripts. Tips needed, especially on formatting! I'm not sure how to format the stage crew's instructions.

EMILY'S BEDROOM - EVENING

Emily, Astilbe, Flora, and Harry are on stage. Harry and Flora are both sitting close to each other on the bed, while Emily sits in an armchair and Astilbe on the stage. A dresser with a small pile of wrapped gifts is next to the bed.

ASTILBE: I wonder when Callum will arrive. (Glances sideways at Emily.) Emily, is he even coming?

EMILY: Well, I did-

Emily is interrupted by the sound of a doorbell. Emily walks off stage right to answer it.

EMILY: (In a muffled voice from far away) Yep! He finally came!

Both Emily and Callum come back, on stage right. Emily resumes sitting in her armchair, and Callum perches on the end of the bed.

ASTILBE: (To Callum) You took your time.

Before an argument starts, Harry quickly changes the topic.

HARRY: Anyway, weren't we here for a reason? (Stares at Flora, Astilbe, and Emily pointedly)

ASTILBE, HARRY, FLORA, EMILY: Happy birthday, Callum!

Callum looks around at everyone, surprised.

CALLUM: (surprised) Wow. You remembered. Thanks.

FLORA: Happy 18th.

Callum nods appreciatively.

ASTILBE: I bet you're happy to be older than Flora.

All laugh.

FLORA: Shut up, Astilbe.

Pause.

EMILY: Hey, Callum, your presents are on the dresser.

HARRY: (jokingly) Give your present to me if you don't like it.

FLORA: Why did you spend so much on that present anyway, Harry?

HARRY: I did not!

FLORA: Yes you did.

ASTILBE: Many happy returns of the day, Callum.

Callum smiles at Astilbe, then at all of them.

EMILY: Come on, let's go outside and have some fun!

All get to their feet, and go off as a crowd on stage right.
