Chapter thirteen: The Union of Planets

After some more time silence was broken, the alien sitting on the second seat started to speak in their language as the researcher pushed some button on a machine. Then after more time they stopped.

"The translator is fully ready" they said extremely proud

"Good we shall start now" this time it's English that came through the speakers

"I, Valsiane councilwoman of Bregan, will be the president of this assembly." She then proceed to introduce the nine other council member "And finally this is Oort councilman of Pviiit. We all speak in the name of our world united under the banner of the Union of planet and we do not approve of war. Please introduce yourselves"

"I am Kyne" he said while taking a micro step forward " This is Mathea, this is Jack, this is Prim, ..." He also introduced everyone. "And last but not least this Arion. We are two crews from the same mission, we are also united under a banner known as the Alliance of the Solar system."

"What is you mission ?"

"We are a science team, we were looking for a suitable planet to establish a colony and study the capacity of mankind to withstand long travels and adapt to vastly different environment."

"Your mission is nothing more than a challenge?"

"And a real desire to explore the Universe and perhaps establish friendly contact with other life forms, which we didn't even believed existed before accidentally trespassing on your territory"

"You reckon that you mean no harm to us"

"I swear to you that harming anything was never on our list of things to do out there. We came out here to discover and to learn. We came in peace"

"Our mission is to welcome any life form, any civilization that desire to form an alliance with us, whether it be for commerce, protection or belonging to a bigger whole. Tell us travelers from the solar system where is your civilization?"

"More than seventy years away from you, we can communicate with them and will comply to your orders regarding this matter, but if I may, I don't think they should be made aware that first contact has been made yet. Even if you let us stay."

"Why not?"

"For their own sake, they are struggling with the legacy of idiots that came before us and until they are done with it they will not be able to be fully ready for this new adventure. If we confine it to just the fourteen of us you'd have a good first sample of humanity learn from us while they figure out everything they have on their plate already."

"You seem quick to paint an unflattering picture of humanity Kyne from the solar system"

"Then let me explain again, humanity has a long history, and from what I can see from the Panarella, it still has a long way to go. The second crew who stand before you today rescued the first one. That shocked humanity, because it was blind luck. We saved people everyone was mourning for, including us and now back on Earth and on all the other inhabited planets of the solar system, people have to reconsider everything they ever knew because they should not have been able to survive and in a way that shows that we are stronger and smarter than we thought we were. They have regained hope, we have regained hope, that perhaps this unforgiving Univers have some room for us beyond the previously established boundaries. As soon as words gets out that there is life beyond these boundaries people will freak out, do we need to gear up for war? Shall we all pray for mercy? Can we just trust anyone who is going to come visit us? They are healing a scared world building trust and friendship that had never been seen before in our people so please, understand that my request is only because I am scared for the wellbeing of those left behind."

Kyne mouth felt dry and he cleaned his throat several time trying to look natural. Prim squeezed his shoulders letting him know that he is not alone. She understands that the situation is less than ideal for the man but surely everyone can be won over with good intent and genuine feelings. She sure hope so anyway, because she didn't come all this way to be abandoned.

"The Union of planet is only two centuries old, Panarella is a hundred and fifty years old, I am as old as she is, I have seen this Union go from three council member to ten and from twelve civilizations to more than thirty, counting in colonies that asked for independence and people that flew all the way from their homeworld with the exact same objective as you. To seek out new horizons, to learn and eventually to make friends." She paused took a deep breath and continued "We would like to learn about your species, about humanity, you seem evolved to a certain point, and mature about weakness you could have, I am impressed by it since your technology is so simple, I would have thought you to be a rather young civilization!"

"We are, when considering humanity as a whole, as one civilization, we are young, peace is a relatively new thing but it seem to have planted it's root already. If you desire to learn about us I know a couple of people who would absolutely delighted to tell you all about us"

"Hum, now, researcher Volta what do you think of them ?"

"I do believe these one to be truly peaceful, they strike me as benevolent, honest and really friendly. They are complexe and possess a real identity as a whole and individually."

"We shall now take some time to study the case before telling you what we intend on doing next"

The ten council members left the room and the researcher turned to them.

"It's going great! It's going really well." The second one took the opportunity

"Oh if they allow you to stay here on Panarella I want to study you!"

"When you say study...?" Asked Mathea a bit scared

"I want to know how your bodies work, do you possess poison or sturdy bones? And how do you breath? Do you even breath?"

"Alston I'm pretty sure they breath but you are going to scare them away with your questions"

"I understand their curiosity, I feel it to" said Ayden shyly

"Oh wow, so much to learn! So much to discover! You are going to love this new world, even if you have to stay here! And I surely hope you will soon be able to walk around more freely!" Alston touched Jack's suit

"We sure hope so"

"The Union of planet might seem a bit cold at first but they are worried about doing everything right, they can't risk to let in danger."

"I can't wait to learn about it in more details! You people have a long history of peace then ?"

" Well it's a bit complicated but all in due time"

The ten council members came back and sat in front of them, there was silence everyone was anxious to hear what they had decided. So they stood there motionless waiting for them to speak.

"The council has studied your situation, we have heard you, we understand your reasons so by this we give you the right to remain on Panarella for the time being and during that time we will exchange informations. We desire to learn more about you and I believe that this feeling is mutual. Researcher Volta I charge you with the cultural exchange and Doctor Alston you may study the human body under their supervision." She smiled "This assembly is done you may go, more information will be sent to you through Researcher Volta and Doctor Alston"

They left the room and the guards escorted them back out, the two aliens were very excited to start, they were already making plans. The humans exchange look of fear, these two were left unsupervised and we're clearly overexcited about it.
