:In which a character develops a crush on someone unexpected
A/N : Wooo! Sort of halfway through this thing! I say sort of, because it's actually like three quarters through, with the '.' sections.
But that doesn't matter! Half way!
Also, this won't be the only update for today ;)
Alex had run away from his problems, something not recommended, because a) it's silly to run away from the inevitable; and b) it's against school rules.
But Alex wasn't the only one to run away.
He found himself inside an empty Biology classroom, the same one that had effectively caused all this.
But he wasn't the only one in there.
"Alex?"
It was a female voice, one that sounded oddly familiar...
"Are you in here?" She asked, from presumably the doorway.
"Who's this?"
"Oh, so you are in here, I see." She said definitely from the door.
And then she walked forwards, out of the darkened entrance and Alex froze.
It was one of Emma's friends.
"Please, just leave me be." He pleaded. "Just go away."
"No."
"No?"
"No."
"Look, I'm begging you; I need to be alone, so just close the door and leave, I don't care, just leave."
"Alex," she sounded...Almost kind. "I want to help you."
"I don't."
"Yeah, but you've been through a lot. And I just wanted to say, Emma was a great friend of mine, right before... No, that doesn't matter... Look, what I'm trying to say is, you are a great person for her. You two were made to be together, I can see it, and even though you've barely known her, I can see it.
You and her; you're perfect. You like the same things, and I think, deep down, maybe someday, in a long time, you'll remember, these times now, these brilliant, painful memories, and you'll be able to laugh; because everything turned out great." She says to Alex, who is looking nervously at his feet.
"If that's so, if you are really telling me that Emma and I were made to be together; why is she... asleep?"
"Alex, some things catch us by surprise. Emma being in a coma is one of these things; but like a speed bump, we can learn from them. They make us stronger, Alex."
"You know, you're really deep." Alex replies, with a faded smile on his face.
"I take Psychology and English for GCSE, so I'm used to thinking like this."
"You know, I think you might be right about me and Emma." Alex admitted.
"Implying there was any doubt?"
"No, it's just... I think I love her, just... I've never felt love before."
And then, for reasons unbeknownst to Alex, or Emma's friend, he started to cry, for the second time today.
