Six months later:

It's funny how quickly life can change. One minute I was a waitress in a diner, the next I found out my brother was in debt with a Russian mob boss, after I was forced to steal money from an MC president and the story goes on.

My life has been eventful to say the least but as I sit on the wooden swinging chair in the back garden of our mansion, I'm happy it all happened.

Tears threaten to fall as I watch my husband and daughter running around in the garden. Their cheers and laughter becoming infectious.

"Daddy, no!" Eva screams as Duke picks her up, swinging her small body over his bulky shoulder.

Duke makes his way over to me, his brow furrowing seeing my glassy eyes, "What's wrong?"

"It's nothing." I try to dismiss.

He cautiously places Eva down, picking up a tennis ball and whistling for our dog, Nanook. A Samoyed we rescued as a puppy three months ago. "I think he wants to play ball."

"Come naook" Eva babbles, still struggling with the pronunciation of his name.

"What's wrong?" Duke asks again, sitting beside me and wrapping a comforting arm around my shoulders.

"I was just thinking about how much my life has changed in the last few years." I admit, fiddling with the cords of my cardigan instead of facing Duke.

His finger tilts my chin, so I face him. "Is that a bad thing?"

"No."

I felt like my life was finally complete with a husband that loved me, a daughter that was perfect and our dog which had more energy than all of us combined. Sometimes I would help Duke at his club, reminiscing my days as a waitress and serving customers during daylight hours. It took a lot of convincing and begging (on my knees) to allow me to work again but I secretly think that Duke loves seeing me in my waitress uniform.

"It's everything I've ever wanted and more."
