Chapter 7

8:45 the clock on Kelly's bedside table glowed, she had just finished her homework and was reading through the warrior book when she heard arguing coming from downstairs. Intrigued Kelly edged to the landing so she could hear, her parents never argued with each other.

“It's your fault Richard” her mother screamed,

“How is it my fault? The girls acting out” her father shouted back,

“What, your the one who wanted to adopt her” her mother said,

Kelly was in shock she ran into her room and closed the door, she was adopted! She felt sick the people who she looked up to, who she always tried to please, were not her real parents. Before she knew what she was doing she had grabbed the warriors book and climbed out the window, she didn't want to see her so called parents, she just wanted to run.

When she had finally stopped running she realized that she was standing in front of the warriors house. She walked to the door and pushed it open, not wanting to go back home. Kelly walked through the house feeling numb, going to the room she explored earlier, she sat on the bed and started to cry.

“Kelly?” a voice called, causing her to look up to see Zack standing nervously in the doorway. “Are you alright?” he asked seeing the sadness in her eyes.

“I'm... I'm ...adopted” she cried putting her head in her hands. She felt a hand on her back rubbing comforting circles. After twenty minutes of crying Kelly finally wiped her eyes, “”Sorry” she whispered.

“Don't be sorry, its not your fault” Zack soothed,

“I'll go get you a drink, be back in a minute” he said giving Kelly some time to pull herself back together.

Zack ran into the open plan kitchen and living room that he had been sitting in when Kelly had burst through the door, he grabbed a glass and filled it with water then took out his phone and rang Rachel.

“Hey Zack, what's up?” Rachel chirped down the phone,

“Rach it's Kelly! we are at the warrior house, ring Jenny and get over here” he quickly explained,

“Alright, be there in ten” she said hearing the worry and concern in Zack's voice.

Fifteen minuets later Rachel and Jenny came running through the door to find Kelly curled up on one of the sofas in the living room, Zack standing hesitantly by her side,

“Kel? What happened honey?” Jenny cried running up and hugging her,

“I over heard my …. well my so called parents, say I was adopted” she explained and both girls hugged her and comforted her,

“So what are you going to do?” Rachel asked a few minute's later,

“I don't know, but I'm not going back home” she explained,

“Well you have to tell them that you are safe they would have noticed you are gone by now” Jenny explained,

“I'm not talking to them!” Kelly snapped,

“Alright, I’ll ring Adam and tell him to ring your parents and say your stopping with me for a few days” Jenny suggested and walked out the room to ring her brother,
