"So do you have any plans today with the birthday boy,"Hermione purred as you sat down at the Gryffindor table for lunch.
"I do have a couple of ideas. I know all of us are having a big celebration for him this weekend, so today I wanted to do something low key," you smiled. Hermione playfully elbowed you, in an attempt to prod for more details. "Alright Hermione, I'll tell you. I read all up about a spell that can display movies on any flat surface without a projector, so I figured we'd watch a movie in bed together. I asked the house elves if they can make his favorite dessert, and they agreed." You knew your idea for celebrating George's party was simple, but you knew that George, despite his love for chaos, deep down loved the quieter things.
"That sounds amazing Y/N," Hermione responded." I'm sure he'll love it, and speaking of the birthday boy." Hermione had turned her head toward the entrance of the hall where low and behold George ,followed by Fred, were walking into the great hall. You couldn't help yourself from running to him, a goofy grin spread across your face. When you arrived, he wasn't smiling at you, but instead he was scowling.
"Happy Birthday George," you sang hugging him tightly. Rather than wrap his arms around you like he usually did, he pushed you away.
"Can't talk right now Y/N. We're busy," George grunted as he walked away from you. Your heart fell. What could make him so upset on his birthday?
"Is there anything I can do to help you?" you called as he walked away. Much to your disappointment it was Fred who replied back,
"No thanks Y/N, we're good." The warm feeling you had to see your boyfriend dissipated. Perhaps he would be in a better mood tonight during his birthday date night.
Your mood was back up again when seven o'clock rolled around. You didn't see George at dinner, but that didn't discourage you. He was probably still busy with whatever was occupying his mind at lunch. There was no way that he would miss your date night. You put the final touches on your canopy bed movie theater and made your way down to the kitchen to pick up George's favorite desert: wild berry cheesecake with ice cream. When you returned, it was five minutes until George was expected to show up. He usually was early to your dates, but you reminded yourself that he was probably finishing up whatever project he was working on.
Thirty minutes passed and you remained hopeful that George was on his way. It wasn't until an hour after your supposed date time, that the tears started coming. The cheesecake was nothing but a soggy mess, just like the front side of your pillow. George wasn't coming. He was going to miss his own birthday celebration you planned for him. Reluctantly, you got ready for bed, switching your movie spell off. It was better off going to bed than staying awake for more disappointment.
The rustling of the sheets woke you up from your slumber. When you turned to the side, you were surprised to see George there.
"George," you sniffled, your nose still clogged. "What are you doing here?" You were surprised he was able to make it into your room without being booted out.
"I'm so sorry I missed our date baby. I got detention all evening," George sighed pulling you closer. You pushed him away, you were still angry with him for earlier.
"Is this why you were behaving rudely earlier?" you hissed rubbing your dried tears away. When George saw you wiping your tears away his face fell. George nodded
"Fred and I were going to play this massive prank on the Slytherins, but we were stopped mid prank. Snape kept us for detention all evening. It was wrong for me to be a complete jerk to you. I'm sorry for missing our date. Can you forgive me?" George begged. Your anger subsided as you moved closer to him.
"I forgive you. Just try not to take your frustrations out on me, and just tell me what's bothering you," you requested. George wrapped his arms around you (x).
"I promise baby," George replied as he kissed your forehead. You sighed into his arms,
"We were going to watch a movie, and I brought you cheesecake."
"Hey now, this is the best present I could ask for." George purred as his lips met yours. "I promise we'll have this date another time. Right now I just want to hold you close baby." You smiled to yourself as the soothing motion of him stroking your hair made you want to fall back into that deep slumber but not before you could whisper.
"Happy birthday George."
