Catherine zipped up her midnight blue dress, it slightly shimmered in the light of her room. Her silver heels made her wobbly, but she felt ready. The doorbell rang.
"Cody," she thought.
She rushed down the stairs, and opened the door. Cody was standing there with a corsage, looking as handsome as ever. He wore a black suit with a tie that perfectly matched her dress. Catherine slipped the corsage on, and stepped into the waiting limo. The limo brought them to a restaurant, where they ate in candlelight among other Homecoming couples. They spent two hours conversing and laughing at the table. It was perfect. After paying, they went back to the limo, which drove them to the dance. Cody and Catherine entered holding hands. The lights were dimmed and hundreds of students were spread about the gym, swaying to the music. Cody walked with Catherine to the middle of the dance floor.
"Can I have this dance, milady?" he suavely asked.
"But of course, kind sir." Catherine answered, giggling slightly. Cody took her hand, and put the other around her waist. The song was slow, so they swayed to the calming tones and smooth melody.
"You look stunning, Cath." Cody said.
"You don't look half bad yourself, Cody." Catherine said jokingly.
"No. I mean it." He said, "Ever since I laid eyes on you, I knew you were the one. The way you smiled, laughed, and talked. The way you were always joking. The way your face looks when you mess up while you play oboe...You are perfect, Catherine, and I lo--""CATH. CATH! Wake up! Mrs. Miami is coming this way, and she looks PISSED." Dakota said urgently.
"Crap." Catherine swore.
"Are you two sleeping or working?! That 15 page essay better be done before I get back here!" Mrs. Miami said, annoyed. She glared at the pair as she walked away.
"What was that essay on again?" Catherine asked.
"Something she didn't teach." Dakota retorted.
"That's right."
