"my dear, where are you leaving for and for what reason?"
portia asked, suspicion heard in her voice.

"ah yes, my lady, i'm going to venice to meet antonio for he has some problems with his business."

portia replied with a smile, but bassanio failed to notice anything wrong with it.

as soon as he left, she broke down, crying her heart out.

she knew that antonio was having no problems with his business and she also knew that bassanio is infatuated with the same person.

upon hearing the commotion, nerissa, portia's lady in waiting, rushes to her aid.

"my lady, what happened?"
nerissa asked with concern laced in her voice.
