|| TW: Mentions of blood ||
I quietly closed the door, letting out quiet sobs as I walked towards the looking glass hung on the wall. Taking a deep breath, I slowly removed my bloody hand from my eye. It turned out to be much worse than I expected. My vision was completely gone, no matter how hard I squinted my eyes. Blood dripped down my cheek as I manually opened my eyelid further, if I looked close enough in the mirror I could see the blade wedged deep inside my eyeball with my other eye.
I hurriedly opened my drawers, rummaging with shaky hands to find my first aid kit. Once it was located, I flung it open and began disinfecting my hands and wound. Once that was done, I finally went in to attempt to pull out the sharp object. Not even five seconds went by before the pain got too much to handle, and I had to be quiet. I plucked a pencil from my cup of stationary and held it in my mouth. I went back in, holding onto the edge of the blade with my fingertips as my teeth instantly chewed down on the pencil and I groaned in pain. "C-Come on..." I mumbled, pulling harder. My head flung back as the cutlass finally made its full appearance in my trembling hand. I threw the thing on my desk, wrapping my eye in bandages before resting in my arm chair.
If I cried now, the wound would start to sting. In order to clear my mind from the events that replayed in my head over and over, I decided to escape and take a walk, not caring that I'm grounded. Not bothering to change my clothing, I stumbled towards my window, opening it before looking down at the height. "I'm doing this for the second time tonight?" I sighed. Throwing one of my legs over, and then the other one, I let go of the ledge and dropped down into the bushes. Groaning in discomfort, I got up and picked the leaves out of my hair. Complaining under my breath at the fall, I looked up to find myself in a forest. Thinking not much about it, I continued to walk. I had always stared at this forest from up above through my window when I couldn't sleep, always wondering what it was like inside. My imagination did not disappoint. The forest was enchanted with the moon's light as little bunnies and baby deer scurried around, past the trees. There were glow-worms on the bark and fireflies in the air, which all helped to illuminate parts of the forest that were shielded from the moonlight by the leaves.
The wind had picked up as it shook the leafy canopies. I tucked my hair behind my ears as the wind blew, holding my arms together as I went deeper into the forest. Just when I thought it went further, an opening was found. An opening where the tree's leaves had parted, letting the moon see its reflection in the large pond in the middle. The water was sheltered by rocks and stumps around its edge, frogs and fish splashing around as I stared in awe. There were little butterflies swarming around it also, flapping their beautiful wings in the air. Never would I want to leave this place, it all looked so magical. All the magic faded when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. I slowly turned my head towards the freakish figure, my heart dropping to my stomach when I realised what it was. A Faun. It stood on its hairy hind legs, scanning around as its big ears twitched subconsciously. Never had I seen one before, in real life.
It almost immediately spotted me, giving me a wide smile and a cheerful wave hello before bending down to drink from the pond. I awkwardly waved back, a little thrown off by how friendly it was. I stood there as it gulped down the water in its palms, as it stood up and wiped its wet hands on its furry goat legs. It looked back up at me, smiling warmly before putting its hands out, almost as if it was trying to keep me calm as it came closer. The closer it hopped towards me, the more I shuffled back into the darkness. Once it was where I was standing, on the other side of the pond, it pulled me back out into the moonlight and stared gloomily at my wounded eye. I shook my head. "I'm fine, really." I reassured, still a little nervous as the creature towered over me. It shook its head back, the shells hanging from its horns rattling against it. It didn't seem to know much English.
Its eyes grew dark as I pulled away, denying its help, and that's when I began to grow fearful. It tugged me back forcefully, placing its hand over my wounded eye. It began to whisper something under its breath as I gulped down the knot in my throat, feeling the pain of my eye slowly disappear as my flesh pulled back together. It slowly removed my bandages, I could finally blink without it hurting. My eyesight was still blurry in my left eye, but it was better than seeing nothing at all. We shared a faint smile as I thanked it, it patted my shoulder before hurrying out of sight. Smiling in the direction it went, I shifted my eyes back to the pond. That is where I spotted them. A hand in the pond as they stroked the fish. Their hazel eyes looked right into mine. Their long brown hair falling right into place over their shoulder. My heart instantly skipped a beat as everything froze. What is happening to me? I couldn't draw my eyes away from them, no matter how hard I tried.
