"Does everyone have a crush on Adrien Agreste?"
"I swear, they keep popping up, Star!"
"Seriously, you can't catch a break. Maybe Eli is right.. Maybe you should stay away from him."
"But he's a good person."
"From what you've told me, yeah, I can tell. But you've gotta think of yourself, Y/N. You should put yourself first. Look at what being his friend has brought to you. Nothing good!"
"That's not true. I can't just end our friendship over a few girls. They don't scare me."
"But what if you get hurt? Celebrities often come with some crazy fans. You're already being talked about on the internet. When the magazine comes out tomorrow, who knows what disaster it could bring?!"
"....."
"Y/N, we're just looking out for you. We only want to protect you. But we can't be there for you now when you need it. If you start keeping your distance now, it can prevent a lot of bad things. Think about it!"
"But he.." You thought about all the things Adrien shared with you. You know that he isn't truly happy. He's basically a puppet for his father. You both have had some fun moments and you can tell that he values your friendship. Wouldn't you leaving him make him more sad? "Star, I- I'll.. think about it."
"Good!" She grinned. "Anywhooooo. Now that we know all the girls like Adrien.. Is there anyone you like, Y/N?"
"M-ME?!" She caught you off guard for a second. "No! Of course not! I have no time for that."
She burst out laughing. "Just kidding! Do you still have a lot to catch up on?"
"Not as much as when I started. Rose and Juleka lent me their notes to.. Oh."
"What?" She raised her brow. "Are those the girls who became your new friends yet threw you under the bus with no hesitation?"
"...I'll give them their books back on Monday."
"I can't wait for you to come back! I hate you not being here so much. I'm lacking vitamin U, don't you see?!" She whined.
You chuckled. "You're hilarious," you said and heard a door open. Star looked back and Eli appeared in view.
"Eli! I'm on the phone with Y/N. Wanna say 'hi'?" She wanted to pass him the phone but he walked off with a dry, "Hey." Star was confused and looked back at the camera with a complete baffled expression. "What's going on? Did you two fight?" She zoomed in on her face and quirked her eyebrow.
You frowned and felt a bit hurt by how he avoided confrontation. "No.. He's still mad about me not wanting to drop Adrien."
"To the point where he won't look at you on camera?" She looked up at the ceiling. "You guys aren't secretly dating, right?"
"NO! Why would you say that?!"
"Sorry, sorry. All jokes! You know me! But I swear, you two act like a couple. It's hard to believe you aren't. Can't exactly blame that Marinette for thinking you were," she shrugged.
You glared at her through the screen then sighed. "You got it all wrong."
"Then you wouldn't mind if I told you that a girl in our class is obviously crushing on him?"
"Really? Who?"
"Zahra. She keeps making moves on him. It's funny. He gets annoyed every time."
"Zahra?? Since when?"
"I don't know. She started talking to him ever since you left. Probably thought she had a chance," she giggled mischievously. "Eli harshly ignores her."
"Why am I only hearing about this now?"
"Why? Does it bother you?" She zoomed in on her face again, the camera only showing her right eye.
"Star, what's wrong with you?" You were irked.
"Okay, okay. I'll stop. New topic: the heroes. What's it like living in a city with its own superheroes? Must be exciting!"
"More like dangerous!"
"Oh, c'mon! Paris always gets saved by Ladybug and Chat Noir. And there's a new one too. The one with wings. What was her name again?"
"Mariposa."
"That's it! She's soooo pretty."
"She literally wears a mask," you said, as if you're not Mariposa herself.
"So?! You can tell she is. Her power is cool too. Mind-control! Imagine. She could have the whole world on the palm of her hands! At least I think so. How do their powers work again? Ugh.. Why can't I be a superhero too?"
Star is really talkative. Once her mouth runs, it's hard to get it to stop. Most of your conversations are basically you listening to her ramble. But she's actually really easy to talk to. She will listen if you have something to say. On top of that, she's a superhero fanatic. She loves things that involve heroes and supernatural whether it be fiction or the ones we have on earth.
"Being a superhero sounds like a lot of work though, and responsibility. It must be tough. You're young too."
"But Ladybug and Chat Noir are our age and they save Paris like every day. All I ask is one chance.."
"..You're right." You couldn't argue with that. 'I'm such a hypocrite. Sorry, Star.'
"But, I'll do what a normal person like me can do."
"What's that?"
"My chores! Saving my family from bacteria and keeping the house clean is what I do best, ya know?!"
You both started laughing.
"Right! Our toughest battle indeed," you played along.
"You're going by your grandparents, you said? Have fun!"
"Mhm. Thanks. Have fun cleaning!"
"I shall do it with honor," she said in a heroic tone then laughed again. "Later, Y/N!"
"See you, Star." You smiled and hung up. You put your phone down then sighed. "I know you can't be seen on camera but.. You being on my shoulder still makes me anxious, Flutter! It feels like your eavesdropping on our conversation too!"
"Give me a break! It's boring not being able to do what I want around the apartment. I can't watch anything! Your convo with Star was my only entertainment." She sounded as if she was about to cry.
"My laptop?"
"It's dead."
"It's what?!" You jumped off your bed to get the charger.
"Y/N, she wasn't wrong! Don't you like Eli?" Flutter watched as you plugged the charger into the outlet and the other end into your laptop.
"I do like Eli. But not in that way. He's like a brother to me." You sat back on your bed and checked the time.
"You're brother-zoning him? You don't know how he feels. He might like like you!"
"Unlikely. I think he-"
