I counted the drops of rain that pattered on the car window. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. I remember when I was really young me and my brother would bet on raindrops. We would both pick a drop and which ever one reached the bottom of the car window, won. Those were the good old days, I shook my head remembering that.
"Ma'am, we've arrived." My driver said. He got out and opened the trunk to get out an umbrella, then opened the door for me. "Here you are," He said handing me the black umbrella.
"Thank you Winston." I quickly said, hurrying into the building. I closed my umbrella as I walked through the doors. Our office was really tall, and big. It had bright lighting, and a lot of office's for people to work in. On the left when you walk in is the shooting range, where you practice shooting at targets. Right in front of you are counters, one with people to check you in, and the other to let you into the shooting range. Everyone knew who I was, I was the mayors daughter. But on the right, we're the file cabinets. I immediately rushed over to them looking for a certain file. Just then my best friend, Sofia, walked up to me.
"Hey Lelia! How are you?" Sofia asked as I flipped through files.
"Tired, been up all night looking for 'Enzo Sinclair'. Boss said I have to find him and kill him." Enzo Sinclair. Ah yes, it's always nice to be assigned to kill a mafia boss. I was assigned to kill him, as I am a trained assassin. My boss said that I have to find him, kidnap him, and kill him. She also said I was the only one in our whole building that was capable of this, since I saw him a couple of times when I was little. "I don't even know what he looks like Sof. Help me." Just then I found the file I was looking for. And clearly printed on the front was 'Enzo Sinclair'. "Aha." I whispered, my silent victory.
She snorted. "No can do hun. I'm too scared to even go out at night because of them, how the fuck will I help you?" She wasn't lying. They were pretty scary. Just then Melisa walked in.
"Hey Leila, Sofia." My boss nodded towards Sofia. Then she whispered to me, "How's finding Enzo going?" I looked at her with dark circles under my eyes. "Not good I'm guessing?"
"Mhm. I need coffee, and a trained assassin to kill for me." Melisa eyed me, with that look in her eyes. The look that said, 'you better not'. "I won't don't worry. But if anyone needs me, I'll be at Starbucks."
I walked out with the files about Enzo in my hand. I opened up my umbrella, and turned left. As I was walking, i pulled out my phone and started reading some articles about Enzo online. One said that he lived in Westton, our city, which is true. Another posted a picture of what he supposedly looked like. The man was tall, had black hair, and was wearing a suit. But you couldn't see his eyes from the angle the picture was taken. "If this is him then he's fine as hell." I whispered to myself. I shouldn't say that, as my dad would kill me. He was the mayor of our city. And absolutely hated the mafia. His worst enemy is Enzo's dad. I've seen his dad a couple of times, but that was only when he and my dad were having a fight, and that's also the only time I've ever seen Enzo. I remember talking to him. He acted like a decent human being, but I was so wrong. All I remember is that he has dark black hair, deep, dark, blue eyes. And he was also very much taller, and three years older than me. I waited on the side of the sidewalk waiting for the 'red sign' to change to 'walk'. When it did I started to speed walk to the other side. When I did I went back to my articles. But that was a bad idea, because the next thing I knew was that I bumped into a tall figure.
I looked up and when he saw my face, he whispered, "Fuck," the man had a very deep voice, then he said, "You ok?"
