March 20th, 1979

It was the last week of March and the break was arriving quicker than expected, McGonagall had already started taking names of the ones who were going to stay back.

Alasia albeit with great difficulty- managed to convince Regulas into giving his name. He had made the excuse of his upcoming end of term exams and that he wanted to spend all time studying.

Of course that wasn’t going to do any good. It was merely a temporary solution to a permanent problem.

A problem which was hovering above the entirety of Hogwarts while they all seemed to pretend it didn’t exist.

Pretended so that they could even though false- but get a sense of security- a feeling of being loved. A feeling of affection for their friends or partners as no one knew when someone would be reported dead.

“You coming to home for break, right?”

Alasia turned sideways from where her nose was dipped in the black leather grimoire to glance at Sirius Black. “Yes, you?”

“Yeah, I’m going home too.” He smiled.

Alasia smiled back knowing all too well it held true meaning. He really was going home, his real home. Somewhere he belonged and she was happy for him.

“Come on now, the carriages are leaving for the station.” Alasia sighed.

Before Sirius could protest, yells were heard from the side of James where he and Remus were pulled away by Peter, muttering something about sneaking in Honeydukes before they leave.

“Won’t join your gang?” Alasia grinned at Sirius who was leaned back against the trunk of a large willow, amusedly listening to the conversations.

His hair had grown in winters, curly strands reaching his chin length.

“I’d much rather not. Honeydukes- not my place.” He grinned back.

“I know.” Alasia got up from the bench, striding towards him and sitting in the shade under the willow. “Zonko’s more like.”

Sirius sat beside her, legs crisscrossed and head tilted towards her. “Absolutely”

“Don’t have certain Ravenclaws to shag today?”

Sirius stiffened, glancing at her eyes when the sunlight hit them. They were emerald green now. The dark hue of the colour had been evaporated by the sunrays, making it glisten like an autumn heaven glory, an immoral and corrupt sinister dazzle in them.

He smiled, knowing he was probably looking like an idiot but he couldn’t help it. Her despicable soul, the tainted thoughts and the inferior blaze was all but intriguing to him. It would’ve scared someone off but it drew him closer and closer.

A sudden fear settled in his chest, he wasn’t developing a crush was he?

“I’ll boil your teeth if you don’t stop smiling! Jeez, Sirius, it’s creepy.”

Sirius blinked, shaking his head as a faint blush crept up his cheeks. “Sorry, I zoned out…no I don’t have anyone. I mean I don’t want- I mean…yeah.”

“Right, let’s go.” Alasia groaned before abruptly standing up and walking where James and Remus stood, arguing with Peter over chocolate types.

“Hey, Lay. You’ll be sitting with us, right?” James chirped the moment Alasia came into view.

“I don’t know, maybe I should sit along Marlene. The girl’s been searching for me entire morning.” Alasia shrugged.

“Please, please, you can go spend some time with her in the express.” Peter pouted.

Laughing, she looped her arms around Remus and Sirius’ nodding in agreement.

Sirius joined them from the back, a frown deep in his forehead. And while James smiled so wide his jaw hurt after a talk with Lily, Sirius’ heart lurched.

The usual compartment was taken while Alasia- a new member, - had her feet on top of Sirius’s lap and her head leaned against the window opposite to the boy.

James was eyeing them with a knowing smirk the entire ride, finally grinning at Moony who too had caught up, when their feet touched the ground of King’s Cross Station.

“White chocolate beats Dark.” Alasia shrugged.

Remus gasped so loud, the entire station looked over. “You take it back-take it back Alasia Serpens!”

Alasia momentarily panicked at how emotional the boy had gotten, looking as if he was seconds away from crying. “I-”

“REMUS!”

The two turned to look at James and Sirius who were standing beside an elderly woman with moon spectacles, similar to James’ and a man with messy hair eerily resembling James’. She was going to make a wild guess as to who they were.

“’Rea!” Remus grinned before hugging the woman tightly, the man beside her making usual comments which made the marauders snort.

Alasia awkwardly stood behind, tapping one foot around her other foot, waiting until they noticed her.

“Mum, this is Alasia- Alasia my mother, Dorea Potter.” James smiled.

Dorea was a kind woman- warmth radiating wherever she stepped. “Oh you’re Alasia? James- she’s even prettier than what you and Sirius mentioned. Oh come here- come here.”

Alasia was suddenly tugged into a tight embrace, the woman patting her back in a motherly way before they pulled apart. “Hello, Missus Potter. And Mister Potter?”

The man nodded, “Charlus Potter, it’s very nice to see you.”

Alasia grinned, “Alasia Serpens.”

The two older ones widened their eyes, “As in-”

“Most Divine Dynasty of Serpens? Yes. Daughter of Harlow Serpens? Also yes.”

James and Sirius chuckled at Alasia’s bluntness. “Let’s go shall we?

The Potter estate was huge, not as much as Serpens manor but it was gorgeous nonetheless.

“Set down your bags in the spare room? James would you mind showing her it?” Dorea asked to which her second son nodded instantly, picking her bags up for her and walking up the stairs.

“You’re giving me the one right beside yours?” Alasia snorted.

Sirius grinned, “Well yes, keeping tabs on you is my best hobby.”

Alasia walked further till she was closer to him, looking up because of the height difference, “Worry about your Ravenclaws, I can take care of myself.”

Sirius leaned forward until their foreheads were almost touching. “I’m aware, Serpens. It’s not you I’m worried about.”

Alasia smirked, Sirius grinned before blinking. They were close…too close. If he were to move even an inch forward, their lips would be brushing against one another’s.

James cleared his throat from the doorway, a funny expression on his face. “Sirius, mum asked for you.”

Sirius awkwardly nodded before stepping outside in a rush. What was happening to him? His heart was beating madly, breath faster and a smile growing lightly.

“You good there?”

Sirius turned his head to see his father with an amused expression on his face. “Y-yeah, of course.”

Charlus snorted, “It’s not as if I’m surprised, you’ve been strange since the day I met you- not the point- what’s happened?”

“Nothing, really. Mum called?” Sirius forced a smile.

“Sirius Black. I’m your father, I can look right through this tough exterior. What’s happened?” Charlus put his hands on his hips, raising a brow.

Sirius sighed before walking over to the older man, “I’ve got a crush- but I also don’t. Maybe it’s not a crush, puff.”

Charlus smiled before patting the seat in front of him which Sirius sat on. “Look, son. I’ve been through such phases myself before realising how much I love your mother. The thing is, you grew up among prejudices and fears. You’re afraid it won’t be reciprocated, you don’t open up that easily and now that you are, to someone outside of family, it’s scary, is it not? But I know you, and I know you’ll sort it out. Don’t run away for now, embrace it.”

Sirius nodded with a tight smile. He was practically fucked up was what Charlus had said.
