"Kai, can you just shut up for a second?" Skylor screamed across the room.

Tears threatend to spill from Kai's wide eyes like a dam ready to burst. He had to muster up every bit of strength in him so stop them.

"Sky, I -" he mumbled for the millionth time. He had no more excuses though. He never knew why he was in trouble in the first place, all the time. Skylor was just always mad.

"Don't 'Sky' me!!!" She yelled, smacking away Kai's gentle hand. "Look, I know you want to help but you're pissing me off. Kai, when I work, I'm stressed. That's why I'm acting this way! Why can't you understand that?"

Kai frowned slightly.

'I didn't even go near Skylor all day because she looked mad. I helped her clean all the dishes in the restaurant, tried helping her in other ways too... on my day off.' He thought sourly.

'I know I have a short fuse and all that, but... now that I think about it, it all started ever since I started dating her."

"Sky! Why are you acting like this? I always try to make you feel comfortable, and you always say that I'm doing it wrong. What am I supposed to do? How much does it take for you to love me? For me to love you...? I'm trying so hard but I'm always never good enough for you... A-and I'm not even fucking perfect anyways! What do you want?" he burst.

Skylor sighed and stared at Kai for a good few seconds. Kai stared back, hope glistening in his teary eyes. But then she broke the silence.

"I'm glad we're both on the same page."

Kai furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"We never really clicked, you know? I-I'm just not ready for a relationship Kai."

Kai's eyes widened. But... they had been dating? It made no sense.

"I know I'm good but I was raised to be bad. I can't get rid of that evil part of me, and all the things that my father taught me... as bad as he was to me." she sighed, trying to find the words.

"That's why, and to be completely honest, I only wanted to be with you because you were part of a bunch of Ninja with great power. Only at the beginning of our relationship though. I thought it could benefit me in many ways. I get to fight with you and get some credit! It felt good. Everyone didn't know who I was now I was a good guy. Then I joined you guys, and suddenly I'm not just 'another girl ninja'. "

Kai swallowed a lump that had formed in his throat. Had Skylor never loved him for who he was? Just for what he had? Skylor continued, as if reading his mind.

"And don't get me wrong, later on I started falling in love with you, for real. But by then I just felt so bad that I only got with you for the fame. I wanted to love you without that guilt... but I also wanted what was best for you. You're a great partner but I'm just not ready for a relationship with anyone. Manipulating people is just part of who I am. I can't erase it so at least be grateful I'm fighting for your side... I don't want you to get hurt by me."
