"Isn't perfect! Again."
"That's okay Shivi." She pushed his arms around her and spoke.
"But Shivaay Oberoi does everything perfectly. Be it cooking masterwork or-" he glanced at her slight blurred and messy toes which were supposed to be beautiful with his work. Alas, it wasn't as good as he expected. "-painting nails. I can do it."
Annika sighed at the sight forward her. There was no use in interrupting him while completing colouring her foot nails. Shrugging her shoulders at his best version she began again munching on her family packet of Cheetos, which was too hot according to her husband.
"You know what?" Licking the last crumbs from her finger carefully not to taste her fingernails, which were beige. "It's eight years since our wedding day. Seven years ago we landed here. We completed our goals. I got a job completing my studies you got a restaurant and fame, name in your list. We have done all. Next what?"
Picking one leg with her ankle Shivaay placed it on his thighs comfortably. He spoke seconds later. "What are you thinking Annika? We aren't yet complete. You still have to get the doctrine of the thesis you submitted. I still have to pay for the loan. We have to buy a bigger house. We have many more years to complete them."
"I was thinking about having kids." Shivaay widened his eyes at her blunted talks. "Shriya, Mallika and Sid's daughter is already in third grade. And we still are struggling to survive."
"Don't take those names," Shivaay warned growling at her. "Don't you remember how Sameer uncle blamed me? Stating that I was his unborn grandchild's father. For god sake, I was still immaculate back then. How could he step forward even after knowing that I was only her best friend?"
"That was mistaken. It's been years since you talked to Sid and Mallika." She tried specifying.
"That wasn't a mistake. What if Sameer uncle had jumped in public areas? My wedding would have been a rot like a rotten tomato. Aai would have separated us from thinking that I was cheating on her beloved daughter. Your baba would have killed me with his glares and bare hands." He argued, placing the little nail paint bottle away from his reach.
"Sid and Mallika did not knock this." Annika hesitated in his glaring session.
"They are the main reason. They were buffoons, cowards. They didn't speak till the problem occurred till my neck." He grumbled. He stretched his hand to grab her Cheetos package. He raised his eyes straight to her eyes when the packet was empty.
"Hehe. It was a tiny packet." She nervously added adjusting her casted arm around her waist.
"That was almost a dollar and mainly mega pack," Shivaay mumbled yanking her with support from her legs, till she reached inches away from him. "Twenty cents less."
"A dollar is-" she raised her right hand and began counting with her slender fingers. "So it's near to fifty Indian rupees."
"God baby! You are so naive. You don't even know what a dollar is. How did you graduate from finance? Did you get cheat?" Shivaay wriggled his brows as Annika took her time to complete her calculation, and muttered. "Who would say you are almost running and maintaining monetary in a company. My crazy wife!" He snickered.
"You said something Shivi?"
"Nope, baby. I was thinking that you are such a genius. You continue counting babe." Annika stretched her lips and smiled whereas Shivaay pressed his chapel lips suppressing his growing laughter.
