You instinctively jolted away from Satoru.

Though this didn't phase the white haired psychopath as he remained seated on the couch. He was eerily calm, slightly tilting his head to see that his old best friend had finally arrived.

"Well, well, well," Satoru smiled, quite patiently at that. That was completely juxtaposed by Suguru's scruffy appearance. Unkempt hair tossed up in a messy tangled bun, his breath leaving his lips in thick sporadic huffs. "If it isn't my best man! Took you long enough to get here... I was starting to wonder if you got lost?"

"Satoru," Suguru's voice was a lot more shaky than you ever remembered. It seems he was stifling to formulate the words he wanted to say to his former friend. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"What?" Satoru batted his crystal lashes with a glint of innocence as he leaned his body back on the couch to loosen up. "It's a nice house right? I thought you of all people would understand that."

"You bastard-!"

Suguru didn't let a moment slip away as he quickly lunged at Satoru. It was only a mere second before the brunette held the sorcerers neck in his hands. "What the hell are you doing at my parents house?! What the fuck are you going to do to Y/n?! You're absolutely insane!"

Before you could fully process the situation, Satoru was quick to interrupt.

"Suguru, Suguru, Suguru," Satoru clicked his tongue, moving his hand up to pry some space for the air to pass through his throat. "No need to get hasty. Wouldn't want to scare Y/n-chan, now would you?"

Suguru didn't budge, hell the words only made his hold tighten. Nevertheless, Satoru was unphased. Was he using infinity? You couldn't tell for sure, but with how upset Suguru looked you sure hope he was.

"Suguru..."

You softly tugged at his sleeve to try to calm him down. "Please, we can just talk everything over. Satoru's not as bad as you think, I swear!"

"You need to get out of here," Suguru snarled back, pulling his arm to push you away. "Get out of here and call Yaga-Sensei! You shouldn't trust Satoru as far as you can throw him-"

"Blah blah blah," the white haired sorcerer rolled his eyes. "Oh yes, call the school. As if they won't threaten your execution again. Suguru, are you trying to get her killed?"

"I'm not the one with blood on my hands!" Suguru snapped back, eyes aussi colt darted on the white haired boy. What could possibly make Suguru this angry? "Why don't you tell her the fucking story about this house, huh?!? Or the ring you stole- gee I'm sure she'd just love to know just what you're plotting!"

For the first time in this whole debacle, you saw a flash of hesitance in Satoru's eyes. "Satoru, what is he talking about?"

"It's nothing important," he tried to brush it off to the best of his abilities, "he's just exaggerating." But once again you were finding it difficult to believe Satoru. Sure Suguru seemed on edge right now, but that in itself was quite odd. He wouldn't lose his mind unless something was really wrong.

"The ring he was about to slide on your finger," Suguru scoffed. "It's-"

Just then, Satoru tried to cover Suguru's mouth, but the raven haired boy was too quick. Suguru was able to get the word out before the white haired boy could even make a move. "-cursed."

The ring is cursed? Could that be what he stole from the school?

"Special grade cursed object; Okiku." Suguru continued. "It belonged to a young girl in feudal Japan that died of yellow fever. This ring sealed her soul into a doll she loved to her dying breath."

"I... I don't understand why it's important," you frowned. "Why would he want to give me this ring?"

"It's simple." Suguru gritted his teeth. "He wants to put the curse on you. If he links your soul to the ring, you'll be immortal - but at a steep cost. You'll become a curse."

Satoru quickly barked back. "You don't know anything Suguru! You'll never understand love!"

"I understand enough to know that cursing someone to be by your side forever isn't love!" The raven haired boy pulled Satoru's shirt up to his face, the two boys just inches apart. Things were getting intense, and you weren't even sure if you could process any of it. Sure you've seen them fight before, but this was a whole different level. Besides, you weren't a bystander in this either. You were very much involved whether you like it or not.

"You're wrong!" Satoru's hands wrapped around Suguru's shirt collar, bringing the boys even closer than before. So much closer that their foreheads were nearly pressed together. "She loves me... she trusts me. Y/n understands that everything I do is for her-"

"So she understands what you're trying to manipulate her into doing?!"

Suguru's choice of words threw you for another loop. Was he really trying to manipulate you?

"Marrying you. Isn't that just another way to complete the curse?" Suguru raised his eyebrow, moving his head back to put a little more distance between the two. "Sure you can give her any fucking ring you want, but when it goes on her finger through a vow of love the curse completes and she is completely and utterly yours. Pair that with the ring's immortality clause and all she becomes is a puppet for you to play house with. Isn't that right, Satoru?"

"Y/n don't listen to h-"

"Satoru..." his name left your lips in a weak whisper. "Is that true? Is that what you want?"

"I just want you to be safe," Satoru retorted back. "Safe, happy, I want to be able to give you everything you'd ever need. Please Y/n, I don't want to miss a single smile that ever forms on your lips. I want to be with you through everything. If I need to complete the curse to do so, so be it."

The words that left his lips were ridiculous, but what was even more scary was that to him they seemed completely normal. Nevertheless, you knew well enough that this wasn't normal in the slightest. Satoru's lost all sense of logic... and he lost it the moment he almost lost you. Sure it was romantic, but it was terrifying. This was a monster you helped to create, after all.

"Satoru..." his name barely came off your lips. "This is all my fault, isn't it? Let's break it off."

"Y/n Y/n Y/n- please!" Satoru exclaimed. "We can just see how it goes, we can't just date eachother forever! We'll have to get married eventually-"

"That's not what I meant," you shook your head.

"Satoru. I think we should break up."

The room became eerily silent, so much so you could hear your heart beating out of your chest. But there was only one phrase that broke the silence.

"Excuse me?"

The words left Satoru's lips before he could even process any of it. But instead of trying to bargain, or yell, something even more unsettling slipped off his lips. A laugh.

You couldn't help but widen your eyes at the unexpected response, his rough cackle filling every crevice of the room. It chilled your spine as each burst would succeed each other. But as his laugh died down into a small snort, he wiped some of the tears from the corners of his eyes.

"Y/n, put your hand out," Satoru calmed down, his lips still curled into a grin. But you didn't oblige.

"Satoru, I-I'm serious," you stuttered, holding your hand away up to your chest. "I don't want any part of being with you anymore. I'm done."

"And I'm serious," Satoru said back, his lips curling ever so slightly downwards. "Put your hand out Y/n. Now."

You still refused.

"Satoru, I'm taking you back to the school." Suguru held Satoru's wrists tightly in his hands. "If you're alive to see the sunrise tomorrow we can call that a miracle."

"Y-Y/n," Satoru's voice started to crack. "You're joking. You can't leave me, y-you love me. I love you! I know you still do- that fucking red string doesn't lie Y/n! You're so madly in love with me even thinking about breaking it off is tormenting you!"

But you shook your head. "Suguru," you asked holding your hand up to the black haired boy. "You're the one who gave Satoru the red strings to begin with, right? Can you get this one off of me?"

"Y/n you don't want to-"

Suguru took your hand, and in a moment the red string was transformed into a small, black orb. It seems you were finally free. But not before noticing a small string attached to Suguru's finger.

"PLEASE!"

Satoru was able to break out of Suguru's grasp, desperately grabbing onto your hands. "Y/n-please, please I'm sorry! I'm sorry, ok?! I'm sorry! Let's just go back to normal... to us."

Nevertheless Suguru was quick to separate you both. Either way, you gave Satoru no response- which was probably the worst reaction you could give to him in this moment. For the first time in forever, he couldn't understand you. Without the string, all he could do was fear the worst could have happened. When Suguru got rid of the curse, did he just get rid of the red string? Or did he break the curse of love binding you to him as well?

"You still love me, right?" Satoru let off a pained whimper. But all you did was turn away. If watching you die before his eyes was the most painful experience he'd ever been put through, this was that but multiplied tenfold. To see your one true love move on from loving you before his very eyes... "please?" He mouthed. "Everything I've done has been for you..."

"Grab your phone and get in contact with the school," Suguru explained. "If you're the one to take the initiative and call them, you'll be on their good side. Most likely, they'll send a few sorcerers to back me up, and send you off with a driver to escort you back to the school."

"Thank you Suguru. I'll do that now." you nodded your head, sliding your phone out of your pocket. But when you did, you noticed something peculiar. A red string.

"You... you took it off of me, didn't you?" You couldn't help but question, looking at your own hands in dismay.

"I did," he confirmed. "Don't worry about that one, that's a different story." Raising up his hand, he put up on display a red string on his own finger. "I put it on your phone just before you left. Sorry I didn't tell you before, I just wanted to be able to track you down if anything were to happen."

"I see," you frowned. Given how invasive the string was, you weren't too happy that Suguru just slipped one on you while you weren't looking. But, if that's the situation that saved you from Satoru's insanity you couldn't really complain now could you?

"If you want me to take it off I can," Suguru sighed, "but it's not like the one you and Satoru have. Since I'm tied to a cursed tool and not an actual person, I don't feel any of your pain or emotions, and nor should you feel any of mine. But if you were to break the phone in any way I'd probably have some issues."

"If we're going our separate ways after I call the school, maybe we should keep it on a while longer," you nervously admitted. Though you didn't like that you were still tied to this stupid curse in one shape or form, you understood with the situation at hand it might be the safest option. "I mean, who knows if something else were to happen? I can trust you, Suguru."

The words stung Satoru like acid to an open wound. "Trust?" He chimed up, "you trust him now? What, are you gonna go elope with Suguru - is that how it's going to be? How much more do you want to hurt me?!?"

You still couldn't find yourself the courage to speak back to the white haired sorcerer, which only furthered his madness. "Y/N-!" He barked up, "What the fuck are you trying to do to me?!? How much more pain do you want to wring me through?! Is my suffering making you happy?!"

But all you could do was look up at the boy with a look he knew all too well- a look he never thought would be sprawled across your face again. It's the same pained look you gave him the night he made an irreversible mistake.

"Please, stop."
