Chapter 24:Fooling around in the office

Honestly, this chapter is just about them fooling around. (Title got ya, didn't it?)

Maudie POV

After a delightful dinner with the Banks and the InBESTIgators. Ezra, Ava, Kyle and I went back to the nanny flat to continue sucking up all the memories. Ezra was lugging a cooler box with him. I had to admit, having dinner with Ezra's family and the InBESTigators was the highlight of my month. I'm also excited for Poppy's upcoming wedding. It was nice to have lots of company. It was pitch black outside, with only a few lights guiding our way. We reached the InBESTigators office and opened the door. I turned the lights on as everybody went in. Everyone felt exhausted. Couldn't blame them, It was past midnight. Ava and Kyle sat down on the sofa, Ezra and I sat down at the desk.

"I'm stuffed." Ava said.

"Same here." Kyle said.

Ezra and I nodded in agreement.

"Ezra do you have a stubby?" Ava asked.

"You literally said you were full." I said.

"What? I can't help it if I want a little drink? Plus, Ezra brought a whole stubby with him." Ava asked.

I stared at her blankly. Couldn't blame her though, sometimes I want a little drink too.

"I gotchu." Ezra said.

Ezra opened the bottle with a bottle opener and passed it to her.

"Thanks." Ava said.

"Welcome." Ezra said.

Ava chugged half the bottle down. I licked my lips, I'm starting to crave some..

"Fuck it, I want one too." I said as I turned to Ezra.

He smiled and grabbed a bottle from the cooler and opened it. He handed it to me.

"Thanks." I said.

"Kyle you want one?" Ezra asked.

"Sure." Kyle said.

"Pass this to Kyle." Ezra said as he handed me bottle.

That was fast. Then I noticed something odd. It had a lot of bubbles... I slowly passed it to Kyle in suspicion. What did Ezra put inside?....

Kyle grabbed it from me and chugged the whole beer down.

"Bet none of you can't beat my-" Kyle said.

He froze and then collapsed on the sofa and his head landed on Ava's lap.

"WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?!" Ava shouted as she stood up in shock.

Ava and I looked at Ezra.

"Chill, it's just a sleeping pill..." Ezra said pulling out a familiar looking container.

I got closer and realized it was the sleeping pills I made. I heaved a sigh or relief. These things are special, it gets a person in a deep sleep for half an hour per pill. Anyone could take them and there are absolutely no side affects. Though I'm not very happy that immature adults are using it for pranks. And by judging the amount of bubbles in Kyle's beer, Ezra must have only added 1.

"Ezra! You are completely insane! Why would you do that?" Ava said.

"Ava, calm down. I made those sleeping pills and they're completely harmless. He'll automatically wake up in about half an hour." I said.

"Oh, But still, why'd you do that Ezra?" Ava said.

Ezra said nothing. Instead, he whipped out 3 markers.

"Say no more." Ava said with a smile.

She snatched a marker from Ezra and started scribbling on Kyle's face. I shrugged, took a marker from Ezra and joined the fun with Ava. Ezra joined along too and we started doing art on Kyle's face while drinking beer. It was wild. Everything was a blur, yet it was so fun. This is being 22 should feel like. Once Kyle's face was covered with doodles, We all collapsed on the floor, laughing until tears started coming out of our eyes. We were definitely drunk.

"This is so fun!" Ava said.

Ezra and I nodded.

"It's so smart... and random of you to do that." I said.

"I'm not the real genius here. It's Maudie E. Miller who made those pills." Ezra said.

Ava and I laughed. Then Ava turned to me.

"Maudie, I'm gonna tell~" Ava said.

I stopped laughing and my eyes widened.

"Hey Ezra, y'know Mau-" Ava said.

I covered her mouth and nudged her on the shoulder.

"What was it? About Maudie?" Ezra said.

"Oh nothing. Forget I said anything.." Ava said as she smirked at me.

The door flew open.

"Hi guys! Me and my fiance were planning to join y-" Poppy said as she came in.

She looked down and saw us on the floor. We looked really stupid. Ava, Ezra and I immediately got up and quickly fixed ourselves up.

"Poppy, It's not what it looks like-" Ezra started.

Poppy then burst out laughing. Frank couldn't help but laugh a little too.

"It's cool Ezra, we know you guys are weird." Poppy said.

Ezra didn't know what to say, he felt so embarrassed.

"Here, I got you a drink." Poppy said holding a glass of red wine.

"Thank you?" Ezra said.

He took a sip of it and froze. He collapsed on top of Kyle, Me and Ava's jaws dropped. Poppy looked at us with a smug smile as she pulled out her lipstick from her pocket.

"What are we waiting for?" Poppy asked.

Ava and I looked at each other and shrugged with a smile on our faces.
