The next day, after a morning of sleep, an afternoon of celebration, and a good night's rest, Logan was packing his things to leave. "I know, Thomas. Believe me if I could I'd stay here forever." Logan sighed in response to Thomas's complaints. "Why don't you?" Janus asked from the door, smirking as Logan turned to look at him.

"You know why." Logan chuckled, playfully rolling his eyes as he stood up and dusted himself off. "Yes, yes. I know. It's just a pity to see the love of my life leave so soon." Janus sighed dramatically as he walked over to Logan. "I'll be back, and I'll visit often." Logan assured him. "I know." Janus assured him before placing a hand on Logan's cheek and placing a kiss on his forehead. Logan smiled and wrapped his arms around Janus, resting his head on Janus's chest.

Downstairs, the staff were setting up a banner over the door. "He's coming!" Remus called before running to hide. The rest of the staff hid as well, they found it much harder now that they were human, but they didn't mind that of course. Thomas was the first to come running down the stairs, then Logan and Janus came behind him. "Oh? What's this?" Logan asked as he studied the banner. "Farewell Logan! Come Back Soon!" The banner said in large letters.

"Surprise!" Everyone then yelled, startling both Logan and Janus as they came out of hiding. "Haven't you all done enough partying?" Janus hissed, irritated due to being startled. "Oh, lighten up Jannie!" Remus huffed as he put a party hat on Janus's head. Logan chuckled as Roman came over to put a party hat on Logan.

"Aww, now they're matching." Remus snickered. "A match made in Heaven." Roman agreed with a grin. "So are you two going to want matching mounts on my wall, or..." Janus threatened, though he wasn't really serious. "Do you really want to risk having Remus as a ghost haunting your castle?" Virgil pointed out as he joined them. "Yeah! Also lighten up. This is your boyfriend's goodbye party." Remus snickered. "Yeah, Jan. Don't want to chase him away again." Virgil snickered. "I did not chase him away." Janus defended. Logan chuckled and held Janus's hand with a reassuring smile.

After the celebrations, which Logan enjoyed, everyone waved goodbye to Logan as he began to take his leave. "Oh, Thomas." Logan began, turning to his dog. "I want you to stay here and make sure Janus doesn't get too lonely. Also, to protect this castle from squirrels and other creatures. Do you think you can do that for me?" Logan requested. Thomas barked in agreement before returning to the castle. Janus smiled as he pet Thomas.

"Goodbye everyone, I promise I'll be back to visit, and I'll be sure to write." Logan called, waving goodbye one last time before making his way down the walkway. Everyone cheered their goodbyes and waved, a bittersweet feeling. They were happy that Logan and Janus were going to be working on themselves, though it was sad to see Logan leave.

Logan smiled as he excited the gates, nodding to Dominic and Terrance. "Good luck Logan!" Terrance cheered, waving him goodbye. "Thank you, Terrance." Logan replied, smiling as he looked back at the castle for a moment then turned to take his leave. "Admit it, Dominic. You'll miss him." Terrance teased. "We barely even interacted with him." Dominic retorted. Terrance rolled his eyes, then smiled as he continued to wave goodbye.

Back at the castle, everyone was going back to their usual business. Janus knew this peace wouldn't last long. They might even have to go through a war with France again, though hopefully France would continue the peace agreements as agreed upon years ago. For now, however, the only thing Janus could do until he got all the soldiers back was rest. That and trying to work on becoming better than his father, and trying to work on finding himself.

Janus was about to return to the West Wing when he found Emile sitting with Elliot. The two of them were working on origami together, and Janus smiled at the sight. "Might I join you?" Janus requested, and they both looked up in surprise. "Yes, of course!" Emile agreed, smiling as Janus took a seat. Elliot hid a little, behind Emile, staring at his paper.

"Now fold that corner like this." Emile instructed, showing Elliot how. Janus was attempting to fold his paper into one of the origami birds Emile used to make him, but was struggling to figure out how. His process was interrupted by Elliot crying out and tossing the paper away. "It's pointless. I'll never get it right." Elliot complained. "Now now, dear. Everyone struggles sometimes. Why, look. Even King Janus is having trouble with it." Emile assured him.

Janus felt embarrassed, but nodded for Elliot's sake. "Yeah... I guess so..." Elliot murmured as he took out a paper and tried again. Janus watched Elliot and copied the steps Elliot knew so far. "You're doing very good." Emile encouraged before continuing his lesson. Soon Janus and Elliot both had paper bats, and Emile seemed very proud of them both. "Great job you two!" He cheered. Elliot happily took his bat and ran off to show it to the other staff, causing Emile to giggle.

"Could you teach me how to make one of those origami birds? Like the ones you used to give me?" Janus asked, and Emile nodded eagerly. "Yes, of course!" He agreed, getting out a sheet of paper. Janus smiled and got one out for himself.

"What happens if he doesn't come back?" Virgil asked Remus, feeling worried about Logan leaving. "Even if he doesn't, I'm sure we'll be fine. Though, Logan Foster's a man of his word. If he doesn't come back, I'm sure there'll be a good reason." Roman dismissed. "Yeah he certainly kept his word on not marrying you." Remus snickered. "I-" Roman made one of his signature offended sounds, causing Virgil to laugh. "You tried to marry Logan?" Virgil questioned.

"Listen, I was... My memory was messed with and I felt I was missing something but I was never really able to love anyone but Logan was the hardest person to get so I decided he'd be the most fulfilling, but it wasn't a challenge I was missing, it was you guys." Roman rambled defensively. "Whelp, guess you gotta find yourself a new suitor then." Virgil teased. "Hmm, got any ideas?" Roman returned with a smirk. "Uh... Oh hey, look, Janus might need advice... on his origami... bye." Virgil stammered before leaving, causing Roman to chuckle. "It's good to be back." He sighed. "It's good to have you back." Remus agreed.

Logan journeyed down the forest trail, and back to the village, where everyone was dealing with an existential crisis after spending an entire decade living false lives. "Wait, wasn't that the guy that was helping all those sorcerers evacuate?" Someone asked. "Is it? Oh, bless his soul." A woman replied as she watched Logan go by.

"I still can't believe we almost killed the king." A man muttered as he rubbed his face. "Well, when in Rome." An old woman dismissed. "But... we aren't in Rome." The man replied, causing the woman to laugh.

"We'll if it isn't Logan Foster! Would you like some pastries? They're on the house." The baker called as Logan passed the bakery. "You know what, I think I'll take you up on that offer. Thank you." Logan agreed, accepting the pastries. He did, however, give the baker some money as a tip. He'd feel bad if he gave nothing in return for the pastries.

"Bonjour, Monsieur Jean. Did you find what you were looking for?" Logan greeted. "Not yet, I'm afraid, but I remember now what, or who, it was. My daughter went missing after the war ended, but I had forgotten I even had a daughter." He explained. "Was she invited to the ball they were hosting?" Logan asked. "Indeed she was. She's a genius, you see, so they invited her to the ball. I hope she comes home soon." He sighed. "I'm sure she will." Logan assured him.

Soon Logan left the village and returned to the cottage on the outskirts. The sheep were out, and there was a young man from the village, a few years younger than Logan, training a St. Bernard outside. "Logan?" The man asked, seeming surprised when Logan arrived. "Yes, I'm Logan Foster. And you are?" Logan confirmed before offering his hand.

"Patrick. This is Gavin, I'm training him to help your father with the farm." The man replied as he shook Logan's hand. Gavin howled a greeting, and Logan chuckled. "Hello, Gavin. How are you?" Logan replied. Gavin barked to inform Logan that he was bored from the repetitive training. "It seems Gavin is bored." Logan told Patrick.

"Oh, I'm aware. He's a flight risk that's for sure. My main concern is that he's going to run off on poor old Mr. Foster." Patrick sighed. "I wouldn't worry too much about that. My father isn't an easy person to run away from." Logan assured him before walking over to the house and opening the door. Inside the house, he could hear a music box, and singing.

"Maybe some moments weren't so perfect. Maybe some memories not so sweet. But we have to know some bad times, or our lives are incomplete. Then when the shadows overtake us, just when we feel all hope is gone... we'll hear our song and know once more, our love lives on." Patton sang as he dusted the house. "How does a moment last forever? How does our happiness endure? Through the darkest of our troubles, love is beauty, love is pure. Love pays no mind to desolation. It flows like a river through the soul. Protects, proceeds, and perseveres, and makes us whole." Patton continued.

"Minutes turn to hours, days to years then gone, but when all else has been forgotten, still our song lives on." Logan sang as he closed the door behind him. Patton turned to him, looking at Logan in surprise. "Logan?" He asked, smiling brightly before running over to hug his son. "Oh, you're home!" He cheered.

I'm so so incredibly sorry, for everything, I promise I'll make it up to you! I don't know how yet but I will!" Patton insisted. "It's alright, Father. Though, I'm just here to visit." Logan explained, taking out the pastries and setting them down. "Would you like to talk over pastries? I think we have a lot to catch up on." Logan offered.

Patton nodded, and they sat at the table together. "Visiting is fine... and writing, too. Just so I know you're alright." Patton decided. "Of course." Logan agreed with a smile. Patton nodded and took one of the pastries, Logan took one for himself. Logan told his father all about his experience at the castle, and about his goals.

Once he was done, Patton told him about all the people Patton harmed instead of helped, and he wrote down a list of people to help and their locations. He warned Logan to be careful, and even colour coded the people to show how dangerous each one was. "I'll be fine." Logan assured him, packing the list in his bag. He ate the last pastry before getting up and heading for the door, where he paused. "Father," he began, turning to Patton with a smile. "Do you think I'm odd?" He asked. "The oddest." Patton informed him playfully. "Perfect. I wouldn't have it any other way." Logan decided.

And with that, he took his leave,
setting off on a journey to help a long list of people that were probably just as odd as he was.
