The pale looking young girl walked through the village. Today is quite an important day, the shadows house was going to select a few brilliant kids to take to the shadows house. The young girl wanted to be one of those brilliant kids, she even made herself pretty today. She decided to wear a light blue dress and put her blonde hair in 2 cute buns. She wanted to pass the selection so that she can join her older brother who got picked in an earlier selection, even last night she stayed up a bit to study even more just in case if the shadows house wanted to test her. "I regret not accepting his invitation.." The young girl muttered under her breath. One of her friends invited her last night to hangout a bit before the selections. But ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕ didn't go to the place they were supposed to meet. She was too stressed out last night and just had the need to study even more.
"ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕!! I'M HEREE!" A young girl with pretty short curly blonde hair shouted at the 2 buns girl.
"Ah yeah I didn't notice you." She walked to the short haired girl, she has been friends with her for pretty much her entire childhood. ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕ was usually the aggressive, cold and strict type of girl who keeps getting in fights but appreciates the short haired girl. "Are you ready for the selections? I sure am!" The short haired girl joyfully said.
"I'm ready as well, this time I'll get selected ! No- we'll be selected together." The young girl answered her friend. Deep down inside she knew the chances of getting accepted together would be slim, but yet she still had some hope.
"Let's go then! We don't want to be too late." The short haired girl happily said as she grabbed her friend's arm and started swiftly walking to the place where the selections will be held. As they both ran around the village, another girl joined them.
"Ehhh?! Why are you running?! Are we going to be too late for the selections ?!" The new girl that just joined with pretty long hair asked
"Ah..No- We just don't want to take the chance to be late." ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕ chuckled. After a while. The three girls arrived in the right place. They swiftly entered and were instructed by the principal to stand in the centre of the room behind one pretty large table. ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕ started trembling, she couldn't help but to be anxious. After all she didn't know if she'd be selected and soon, she might be too old to even enter the shadows house.
"Calm down ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" The long haired girl whispered to her. The two buns girl looked at her and simply just gave a smile. The long haired girl's voice was so soft and nice to listen to thought the 2 buns girl as she started to feel a little tiny bit less anxious. The two buns girl looked around. She saw most of her classmates already present in the room, some were stressing out just like her, Some seemed not caring much about it and some seemed excited about it. She wished that she would know how to properly deal with her stress. But sadly she didn't, she tried to think about something else but all that she could this was about joining her older brother in the shadows house or hoping that her friends would get selected.As ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" was trying to think about things that could relax her, 2 nobles from the shadows house entered the room. She couldn't help but to stare at the noble woman's beauty.

The noble woman noticed ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" staring at her, she smiled at her and the young girl immediately looked down.The principal would announce the arrival of both of the nobles and start saying his usual speech about how the children should be grateful of the opportunities the shadows house is providing them.The noble woman who noticed ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" staring at her, swiftly approached her after the principal's speech.
''My, my!~ Oh how pretty you are! Your eyes are so shiny and those two buns are so cute!'' The noble woman showered ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" with compliments, ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" looked at the noble woman with a smile. She felt did feel a little flustered since she always felt embarrassed if someone complimented her a lot.
''You seem quite talented too young girl. No need to feel anxious so get that stressed out look out of your face and smile a bit!''The young noble man said to the long haired girl. She gave a little smile.''Great, you all seem to be worthy of the shadows house, yet sadly we can only take a few of you to the house. No need to worry if you don't get selected, who knows. You might get selected next time, until then. Keep doing your best!'' The noble woman said, as she pointed to a few kids whom the coffee should be served.ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" got selected, her long haired friend got selected as well and a few others. When the adults stopped pouring the coffee in the cups, the short haired girl quickly realized she wasn't selected but her dear friend ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" was. Her heart dropped, she felt like genuinely crying but tried to hold back her tears. ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" glared at her short haired friend and gave a little smile. As the nobles told the selected children to drink the coffee. ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" couldn't help but to hesitate a bit first, should she truly drink the coffee and leave her closest friend alone? Yet ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" truly wanted to see her dear older brother back and the shadows house would give the girl so many opportunities as well, it's hard to say no to that. She looked at the short haired girl one last time before swiftly drinking the bitter coffee. After drinking the coffee everything started to get more blurry, ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" didn't really know what she was doing anymore but as long as she followed the noble man and the noble woman, everything would be fine right? The selected children started following wherever the nobles were going. As they were now walking outside to the train station, ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" saw her 3 younger siblings, her parents and some other villagers she knew waving at her. She couldn't help but still to feel a little sad, but just like them she happily waved back.
''We arrived! Please be careful while getting in the train. We don't want you to injure your pretty faces afterall!''The noble woman announced once they arrived in the train station.
''You must all feel pretty tired after this long day, you should go sleep a bit in your personal carriage dear children!'' the noble man said while patting ꪑ̷̍͠ꪖ̵͆́᥅̶͋͘꠸̵̈́͊ꪀ̵̀̐ꫀ̷̆̕" back. After that he helped all the selected children get on the train and smirked as he saw the sleepy children walk to their carriage so that they can sleep a bit.
''Let's hope they'll be useful to the shadows house.'' The noble said as he looked at the noble woman.
