"Stay right here kids, do not move. I'll be right back," said Emily as all of her 3 kids nodded.
Emily wasn't stupid enough to make the same mistake twice so she made sure to lock the door with her key before leaving.
Where was she going to, you may ask?
To check around the house for the girl of course!!
Just to be safe and make sure she still wasn't here...
Emily begins next door across the hallway and into the only bathroom of the house.
Nothing.
She then goes more deeper inside the hallway all the way towards her own room.
She checks under the bed, in her closet, and even in her own private bathroom.
Absolutely nothing.
She then goes, one by one, into all 3 of the guest rooms of that floor.
Guest room number one.
She checked under the bed, in the closet it had, and anywhere else this girl would be hiding.
Nope.
Not here.
Guest room number two.
She only had to look around the room since it was empty & didn't have any furniture anywhere yet.
Nothing to see here.
She had even checked in the bathroom that was connected to this room and didn't find anyone there.
There wasn't much furniture in the rooms because after all, they had just moved into the house the previous night.
Last but not least...
Guest room number three.
Emily checked under both of the beds in there and also under the table.
She even checked inside the empty vase that was on top of the table, yet to be put with flowers inside.
You never know right?
She then went into another smaller room that was connected to the room...
And what she saw next wouldn't be believed by anyone if one didn't see it with their own eyes.
Laying in front of her beautiful eyes was the cup of coffee that Corey had given her earlier today, with a phone number still scribbled on it...
But didn't she put it inside the fridge once she had gotten inside the house??
"B- But I thought I put this in the fridge?," said Emily out loud as she raised a suspicious eyebrow at it and shrugged it off.
Maybe she left it here without realizing it...
Unless she was going crazy.
Maybe she is...
She quickly ran back to her room to get a pen and paper and ran back to the small room.
Emily wanted to write down the number for when she found her phone so she could have Corey's number with her.
Because what if she had accidentally thrown out the cup??
THAT would be devastating.
Right?
After writing the phone number down, she then found the nearest trash can in the bathroom and threw the cup in.
Since the attic upstairs had a lock, there was no way the girl could have gone inside there...
Right?
And since the basement also has a lock there was no need to go down there either, Emily thought.
Only one place left to go...
The first floor.
Dun, dun duuun!
Emily goes downstairs, not having much hope of finding anyone there since there was only a huge living room and one single room there.
Besides the kitchen they had there of course.
She begins to look around the couches and in the corners where she may be hiding.
As expected, there was no one down here.
She then goes in the small room which was also empty and had been painted white.
Feeling very frustrated and confused, Emily decides to leave the room.
Then out of nowhere, a photo that was hanged on the wall behind the couch falls down as its frame smashes into millions of pieces upon impact.
"H*ly f*ck!!" says Emily as she runs towards the photo that had just fallen.
Who was it a photo of?
Her father.
Her dead father, to be specific.
Emily was only 7 years old when the accident had happened.
But all the years before the tragic car crash occurred, Emily had a good relationship with her father.
He truly adored his only daughter...
Yes, Emily has no siblings.
She was an only child.
They would go to the park together, then always get ice cream...
Without her mother knowing of course, as she didn't allow it.
They both even shared the same favorite ice cream flavor.
What was their favorite flavor??
Chocolate of course!!
Overall, they were inseparable and were always seen around each other, playing video games or eating pizza...
Before he had passed away.
Sad tears started falling down Emily's face.
"Dad, I miss you so so much," Emily said while wiping her tears away.
"You have no idea how harsh life has been for me without you by my side."
Suddenly, the lights started to flicker then turned off completely a second later.
The power had gone out.
Screams were heard from the floor upstairs.
"My kids!!!" yelled Emily in devastation as she ran upstairs towards the direction of her room to grab flashlights.
The screaming continued as Emily rushed to the kid's room with the flashlights as they started banging on the door.
Emily got the keys out of her pocket and quickly tried opening the door.
But the door was stuck.
"Kids calm down and try to pull on the door," said Emily as the screaming and whining decreased.
"It's so dark in here, I can't see a thing!!" yelled Emma while pulling on the door.
"I know right!!!" said Tom as he helped her.
"Mommy, I-I'm scared," whispered Anna as she hugged her white teddy bear that her grandmother had given her.
Just then, the door finally flew open as Emily shined the flashlight towards them.
"Mother, you are going to blind us!" said Tom as he shielded his eyes with his hands.
"Ooops. Sorry," said Emily as she handed them the flashlights.
"Thank you," they all said as Emily smiled.
"Your welcome children, how about I read you all a bedtime story??" said Emily as they all eagerly nodded.
"Yes please," said Emma as they all climbed on their beds and put a blanket over themselves.
Emily spent the next 15 minutes telling them a bedtime story that her very own mother used to tell her when she was a little kid herself.
"And they all lived happily ever after," said Emily as she looked up noticed that all the kids had fallen asleep.
She then proceeded to go around the room and gave them a delicate kiss on their foreheads.
"Goodnight children," she said as she closed their room and started walking towards her own room.
But then Emily had remembered the photo of her father that she left on the couch was still downstairs.
Emily walked quietly down the creaking stairs, trying to not wake up the kids as they have had a very long day and deserved some rest.
She then shined the flashlight around the room as it finally landed on what she was looking for.
Emily went up to the photo and grabbed it, looking at it once again.
This time, she tried not to cry.
Lets all try not to cry...
"Dad, I would like to know if-" Emily said as she was rudely interrupted by knocking coming from the front door.
Who could that be up at this hour??
It's literally 2:57 am!!!
Almost 3 am!
"Coming!!" she yelled as she walked towards the door.
But as she opened it, no one was there.
Plus, the streets were empty.
Literally no car was in sight...
Besides her own of course.
"Kids these days," Emily thought as she shook her head.
But what type of kid would be up at this hour??
The house next door to her right was empty and currently on sale...
But what about the house to the left, you may ask???
The family was on vacation.
To another country.
But more information on the family later.
Emily was tired and had enough of the horrible, tormenting day, so she closed the door and started walking up the stairs and towards her room.
She then changed into her very comfortable, favorite pair of pink pajamas and turned the flashlight off.
It got very silent.
Too silent...
While climbing on her bed and then laying down, she heard a faint voice that almost made her pass out.
"You will pay for what you did."
