Every time I feel good, I think it'll last forever.
Rue Bennett stood outside of Cameron Baker's house in her Halloween costume. She was dressed as Romeo, and when Cameron opened the door and Rue saw her zombie costume, she still thought she looked terrific. "Wow," Rue said as she took her costume in. "You... You look fucking amazing." She said, and Cameron only half-smiled.
"Thank you. I don't really feel it, but... you know." Cameron said. She turned back into her house because her parents were sitting there on the couch. "Guys, I'm leaving, love you," Cameron said.
"We love you too, sweetie, have fun!" Heather Baker responded to her daughter. Her brother Chris was also at a Halloween party that was being thrown on his college campus. Cameron walked out of the door and shut the door behind her, and when Rue leaned in to kiss her, Cameron slightly tilted back and kept walking.
But it doesn't.
"Um, you smell like alcohol," Rue said as she turned to face Cameron and slowly followed after her.
"What's a Halloween party without a little pregame, right?" Cameron said as she started to head towards Jules' house because that's who they were picking up next. Rue sighed as she followed behind her and nodded her head.
"Yeah, right."

Rue and Cameron went to Jules' house next to pick her up, and it wasn't lost on Cameron that Jules was dressed as Juliet. Rue and Jules were Leonardo DiCaprio's movie version of Romeo and Juliet, and Cameron immediately took notice. After they picked up Jules, they went to Kat's house, and when she opened the door, she was dressed as a nun, but darkly, and Cameron loved it.
"Wow, you look fucking great," Cameron said. Kat smiled, but she shrugged her shoulders.
"It's like, whatever," Kat said. Jules, Rue, and Cameron thought she looked amazing, even though Kat tried to minimize it. "I think I'm gonna get really fucked up tonight," Kat said.
"Same." Cameron and Jules said simultaneously, which made Kat laugh, but Rue looked at them. She was more confused about Cameron than anything. Since Cameron told Rue that her dad had caught her doing drugs, so she was staying sober because of that, and even if she hadn't done drugs... Rue knew addicts also shouldn't be drinking.
When the girls got to the party, Cameron, Jules, and Kat immediately went for the alcohol and started taking shots while Rue stood in the background and watched.
The only other time I had seen Jules or Cameron drink was the night of Mckay's party. It's not like I'm a drag and want everyone to be sober around me. It's just... something about the two of them drinking felt off.
