(A/N This is my first book, bear with my uneven upload schedule. Ok, lovelies on with the book!)

Her voice washed over us, terrifying yet endearing. She only said three words to me, but those three meant everything. "We are forever." Those words sent shivers down my spine, and I tried to recollect myself, because only one person knew those words, but she was dead. I looked the monster in the eye, and tried to speak, but her gaze forced me not to. When I saw the shifting patterns and colors in those kaleidoscope eyes, I knew it was her, even though that shouldn't be possible. Kathrine Silvia. Though it had been years since I last saw her, and I thought she was dead, I still could recognize these eyes anywhere. My childhood best friend had turned into something else, something not entirely human. She had the same face, thin but not sunken cheeks, a petite nose, beautiful light brown, curly hair, full lips, and a startling gaze that can mean everything or break you. She had changed after this time, some ways that were obvious, and some ways that you wouldn't notice if you hadn't known her for years, and known her well. You wouldn't even notice anything. An obvious change was her horns. They exist now. Kathrine's horns were not unlike Maleficent's, but also entirely better in the way that they were smoother and cleaner. She also has now a third eye, right in the middle of her forehead. I noticed little changes, such as the way she holds herself. Back when we were kids, she would exert a quiet confidence in her posture, now she held herself in a way that implied that if you made the wrong move she wouldn't hesitate to knock you down. I couldn't help but think that if I hadn't given up on my search, she wouldn't have gotten to be this way. I felt bad.

Now, I should probably start from the beginning. I'm Sam Bush and I want to save humanity. It's a long story. I should proobably start from the beginning. I met Kathrine, Kat, at the orphanage when we were young. We were maybe around right at the time, and my parents had just died in a plane crash, and she had never known her parents.

The last day she saw me until today, was the day I got adopted when I was 12, and she said the words, "We are forever. Don't forget me." She then kissed my cheek and walked back to the orphanage, and I was led to my new family by my new parents. I have a feeling we both cried buckets that day. A year later I found out that she had gone missing and was presumed dead.I haven't really thought about it much, but I still miss her every day. Ok, now that we know how I know/knew Kat, I should clarify how I got into this exact situation.

Rewind! (12 hours earlier.)

It started like a normal day, my alarm beeping and scaring the heck out of me.

BEEEPPPP!!!!! BEEEEPPPP!!!

"Ugggggg." I groaned, grabbing my phone to turn off my phone. I looked at the time and it isn't that much later than when my alarm originally went off, it was 6:34, only four minutes after it went off. A new record! They thought sarcastically. I then told myself to stop the inner narration and dialogue and get ready for my first day of junior year in a new town. Yay. I begrudgingly got up and got dressed. I looked in the mirror after I got dressed, and saw the same thing I did every day. A slightly tan person, hair only reaching down to my shoulders, a length that could be styled feminine or masculine, depending on how I wanted it to look, and my outfit that rarely changed, with the exception of the color. It was baggy jeans, a tee shirt, and a jacket and/or flannel. Today I figured I would style my hair into two french braids. When I was done I smiled. Good job Sam, I told myself, proud of my work.

"SAMMM!!!! BREAKFAST!!" Ben yelled up the stairs, not wanting to be late for his first day after he got promoted at PAHL.

I should explain my family situation. Ben and Nico, they let me call them by their first names because we had met so late in my life, around 12-ish. They met at a semisecret government branch called Protect All Human Lives, or PAHL. PAHL prevents some doomsday thingy that I never really pay attention to when my parents are explaining, because I'm never sure if they are pulling my leg. The one time I did listen though, Ben talked about how they prevented mutations or something. I'm not 100% sure what that means though. Ok, back to morning food. I mean breakfast.

"BE RIGHT THERE!" I yell back, grabbing my shoes and backpack. It took me a while to find my shoes, because we had just moved from frigid New York, to sunny California. When I got downstairs I heard my parents talking.

"Nicooo! I'm soooo happy we got this promotion!" I heard Ben say.

"I know sunshine, I know."

Ben and Nico have these nicknames for eachother. (I've never been in a relationship so I wouldn't know anything about that.). Anyway, where were we? Oh right. So, I got downstairs and breakfast was ready. Nico made the food since he was an amazing cook, (he is also half Italian so he taught us the language for fun, but Will never really caught on) and well, Will couldn't cook to save his life. Nico made fresh cornetti, or croissants, and coffee.

"I don't know what I'd do without your delicious food. Like it's soooo good." I told Nico, grabbling a cup of coffee and a cornetto.

"Course kid," Nico replied. He smiled at me. "Now, hurry up and get to the bus stop before I have to take you."

"Fineee... I'm getting another cornetto though."

"I just might join you, Sam. These are really-" he paused to kiss Nico, ew, then waited a few more seconds for dramatic effect, "chefs kiss."

"Ben Cardian you are the most cheesy person I've ever met."

I gasped dramatically, and said, "You've met me though!" I pride myself on being really cheesy.

"True, but no one can beat Ben in the romantic-ish cheese."

"Fine. You may have won the battle, but you shall never win the war!" With that I walked out the door to my bus stop, which was a few blocks away. I called goodbye to my dads and walked off to, as I like to call it, 'the first day of your 180 day prison sentence'.

Whoop de do.

When I got on the bus, I grimaced at how the local bullies who I've known since middle school, Arthur Candor and Blitz Hanks, were already on the bus. But lucky for me they didn't face me, so they won't see me and pick on me, right? Wrong.

Some idiot shouted out, "Oh, hey Sammy!" (I hate the nickname sammy with a passion btw) and i had the ignorance to respond saying i hate the name, and to shut it.

"Ohhhh, Blitz, look who showed up to school today," Arthur, or Art, said in a mocking tone.

"It's the lone wolf again I see. Hey wolf, can you howl for us? We'd love to hear it." Blitz smiled that chilling smile of hers and laughed.

"Nah, I'm good ladies." I tried to walk to my seat. But Blitz put her foot out, blocking my way forwards. I tried to turn around, but Art had circled behind me while I was conversing with Blitz.

Splendid. "I really don't want any trouble, really."

"I remember the last time you said that... it turned out great, don't cha' think?" Blitz is the worst.

I remembered the last time I said that, alright. It was in the seventh grade, and I had been in a wolf phase (I don't want to talk about it, it was horrible) and I was talking to my friend Angie, about the really cool wolf exhibit at the zoo. They walked up to me and said a few things relating to how I was almost always alone, and thus 'lone wolf' was born. Also, I said a few sarcastic and snarky things, and well lets just say I was going to have a few bruises the next day.

"Yes, Blitz, I believe we should recreate that amazing memory." Art sneered at me while saying this.

They both started inching closer and closer, cracking their knuckles in what they probably thought was menacingly, but failed stupendously. Great, just splendid. How the heck am i going to explain a bloody lip or whatever they decide to do to me.

Just as soon as they got close enough so I could smell their putrid breath, someone stood up.

"Leave Sam alone! What did they ever do to you?"

I looked at who spoke. It was Adrianne, captain of the soccer team. I felt myself flush at the attention.

"Move it Sporty or you're getting pummeled with them."

Luckily, the bus stopped and the rush of students pushed the pair away from me. I ran inside to my first class and for the rest of the day I avoided 3 people more than usual. Blitz, Art, and Adri. Blitz and Art for obvious reasons, and Adri because I was embarrassed I couldn't stand up for myself.

Then when I got on the bus, Adri finally caught up with me.

A/N OOOOOOHHHHH CLIFFHANGER! AM I WORTHY UNCLE RICK??? (all these charecters belong to me btw)
