"I have to go and get something from my car, Emily. I trust that you will stay here."

"Yeah, whatever."

God she reminds me of myself I thought to myself as I walked out to my car. I grabbed my laptop and locked my car after unlocking it. Once I was back in my classroom I noticed that she was looking at her phone.

"There are no phones in detention miss," I scolded playfully. She rolled her eyes but put her phone away.

"So what am I supposed to do, it's the first day and I don't have homework." She asked.

"I have some games in the closet we could play, but don't tell anyone you played games in detention," I said with a wink.

She walked over and picked out a game. She picked out my two personal favorites Would You Rather and Uno.

"Which do you want to play first?" I asked her, sure of that I would beat her at either.

"Would You Rather," she said with a smile. Her smile was the brightest thing I had ever seen - stop it! You can't think that, I told myself, she is my student.

"Um Mr.Rushing did you hear me?" she asked with a smirk that told me she knew exactly what I was thinking about.

"It's Elliott after school, but no I didn't hear you."

She smiled and said, "Okay Elliott, would you rather be lost in an isolated desert without water or be lost in an isolated tundra without any food?"

"Probably the tundra since I could make a fire, which then I could use to melt snow into water," I responded.

We kept going on and asking each other questions until my phone went off telling me that my roommate texted me asking why I wasn't home.

"Hey, it's six a-clock," I told her, hoping that she didn't hear the disappointment in my voice. We had a lot in common and I really enjoyed spending time with her.

"Oh crap my brother is going to kill me," she said as she was grabbing her bag.

"Thanks for the best detention ever," she mumbled as she ran out of my room.
