"Dad!" Amo came out from behind me and ran to the male avian humanoid in front of us. Flint picked up the chick with his wings and spun him around, "Amo my darling boy, how is my little joy?" he spoke, "Great Dad! Dr. Mavis and I were just talking." Amo answered his apparent father. "Dr. Mavis?" he sounded unsure, "Dr. Mavis Deirdre." I introduced myself. He looked in my direction and smiled, "Oh! Now it makes sense, if I may explain my defense?" He asked. I nod, "I was just here to get my little chick so now we must be quick!" and as he finished, he bolted with Amo in his wings. "Mavis!" I mumbled to myself. I reached for my walking talkie, "This is Dr. Deirdre, I am at Interrogation Room J-4 on the West side! I am reaching out to any guards that are nearby, there are two avian humanoid that just had left the interrogation room! An adult male and the chick that had arrived a few days ago; cut any passage that could allow them outside!" I spoke into it then put it back on my belt and started to run after them.
~Amo's Pov~
"Hey dad, why are we running from her?" I asked my dad who was holding me in his wings. "I'm sorry my little one but we have to run," he said. "This place is not safe. If we stay some will be chafe!" he exclaimed. I don't really know what he means but his face looks like he doesn't want to be here. "Buy why?-" he stopped running. His eyes squinted at what was in front of us, I looked at what he was facing. About three humans appeared, they were wearing the exact same armor that found me and took me here. Very light blue helmet, vest, and pants that had white specks on it. Their shirts were gray and had white gloves that went to their elbows and showed their fingers. They held up what looked like guns from my laser game. "Avian-Humanoid, please stay where you are! Please come with us or else we will have to use force." the one in the middle said.
Dad put me down and then ran at them. He jumped at the middle one and spread his wings at the other two. Dad's talons were on the middle one's arms on the floor and ones at the sides hit the wall, all of them didn't wake back up. He went back to me and picked me up again. He jumped over the three and continued to run. "Dad?" I tried to call out, "Not now Amo." he said. I stayed quiet, knowing that he's trying to get us out. "But why did we have to run from Dr. Mavis? She was nice!" I was thinking when Dad stopped again, we were at a door, but it seemed to be covered in iron. "This is not our lucky day, but we must not sway!" he proclaimed, "Wait!" I heard from behind us. I looked back to see more guards; I think Dad heard them too because he started to run again. We went to the left hallway. "Dad! This looks reminds me of Temple Run!" I laughed, he chuckled and said "That may be! They're the apes and we the adventurer that flee!" He yelled as he turned again to another direction.
Left, right, left, right, straight. Dad kept on making the same patterns directions. We were almost at a pale green door when suddenly, "I wouldn't move any further." We heard a familiar voice. Dad stopped and who we saw was Dr. Mavis, "If I can ask, how did you manage to keep the task?" I looked at my dad. I was confused but Dr. Mavis didn't seem to be, "By 'task' you mean how I manage to keep up with you, I'll keep that a secret." She said, "But for now, I suggest you stop running." Her voice was stern, and her face was scary. Not like the friendly way she was talking to me before, "But why do you request? We are almost out of this prison nest." Dad grinned, "Surprise!" a voice behind us came out. I was thrown out of dad's wings and the next thing I know, I'm still off the floor. "So, the rumors are true! Mavie was interviewing a kid~!" I shifted my head to where the voice was, and a lady was up at my face. "Ah!" I screamed. "Aww, don't be scared!" The lady said. "Waneta, what did we say about antagonizing the residents?" Dr. Mavis walked toward us.
"Come on Mavie~! He's new, let me have fun with him!" She complained. "It's Dr. Deirdre to you. Come here, Amo." She reached out to me and got me out of the hands of the crazy lady. I turned around and saw that the lower half of the lady who had pale green straight hair down to her shoulders, black eyes, and pale skin was a snake tail. The snake tail was also pale green and was wrapped around my dad. "Dr. Mavis?" I spoke up, "Yes?" she bent down to my height where our eyes meet, "Is my dad going to be okay?" I pointed my wing to my dad. She looked at him and then back at me, "He will be, Amo we're going to wait for the guards to come and pick up you and your father, okay?" Dr. Mavis said. "Where will they be taking us?" I asked, "They'll most likely be taking you two to your temporary room since your's is not complete at the moment." She told me. "Dr. Deirdre, are you sure that you're supposed to be telling the chick this?" The crazy lady said again. "I tell you where I'm taking you before we leave your room truthly, do I?" she asked as she grabbed a soda can out of her pocket and opened it. "How can you drink diet pop?" The crazy lady looked grossed out. "Is there a problem?" Dr. Mavis asked as she drank from the can.
~Mavis POV~
The guards took Amo and his father to their temporary room and Waneta went back to her's. I let out a deep sigh, "This was a long day..." I thought. I walked down the hall to the right. I placed my hand on a brick. The brick moved inwards into the wall then to the side and one by one each brick moved into the wall then to the side until it revealed a passageway. Walking into it, the hole closes and the not-so-secret passage lit up. "Why do I have the feeling that avian humanoid is going to cause me a migraine?" I thought aloud as I took another sip of my Diet Pepsi. "Knowing him, he probably will, more than the twins." A squeaking voice came above, "Hello Nek, it seems you're acquainted with him." I greeted them. Nek flew down to where I could see them.
Nek is a nocturnal fairy about the size of my head. They have blonde hair with white highlights with pixie-cut hair style. A gosselin to be specific that shows their pointy ears. They had gray eyes and tanned skin as well. They're wearing a dark turquoise tunic with black tights. Nek's wings are a glowing translucent black pair with golden spots on them. "Why I am... sadly. He owes me money." They said with a 'I'm so done' tone. "Don't half of the people of this foundation, employees and residents, owe you?" I ask, "Don't forget half of the higher ups too! But let's not talk about the people who are in debt to me. Flint is a crazy one and also a mystery." They claimed. "A mystery even to you?" I raised a brow, this fairy has their way of getting information, one of the few that managed to find out the story of how I got employed. "Yes! I didn't even know what his chick looked like until I saw him running with the little bird through the walls." They exclaimed. "I always wondered why he doesn't fly..." They put their index figure on their chin. "Hm someone that Nek has a hard time getting information on." I thought. "Is there anything that you have on him, Nek?" I asked, "Only that I have never seen him fly and that he's a father." They tell me. "I see, thank you though." I spoke.
I started walking past them until Nek spoke again, "How are you doing?". I turned around, "What do you mean?", "I've known you for 10 years now, Dr. Deirdre. I've been in your care a week after Spencer was placed in it, I know how you feel about children." They said. I sighed and bowed my head, "It was hard, I'll admit. But I'm fine." I informed them. Nek frowned, "You know I was surprised when I heard that you were interviewing a chick, especially one that is-" They were about to finish, "Please don't talk about it," I started, "You know the unspoken rule of S.N.O.W." I finished. It was then their turn to sigh, "Okay, I understand young one." Nek then smiled. Rolling my eyes, I replied "Nek, I'm not 25 anymore.", "I know. But you'll always be the same young one that I met all those years ago." They chuckled. "Sorry to cut this conversation short but I have some paperwork that I need to do." I say, "Okay, see you soon!" They chuckled and flew away, "Until then Nek." I said goodbyes and went forward in the direction that I was going before.
