"I was thinking about rejoining the hospital", Abhimanyu announced infront of his family as they all were seated at the dining table. They looked at him in silence, shocked with this sudden statement.
"You what?", Harsh asked, unable to believe his words.
"I said I want to join back as a surgeon at Birla Hospital", he replied emphasising on every word to make it clear. Everyone's silent yet shocked faces were embarrassing him now.
"Are you sure beta....there is no pressure from our side", Manjiri tried clearing her stand to make sure her son was comfortable. He nodded in assurance. "Yes, I think it's time for me to join back. It's time I start treating my patients once again to somehow repay for what I did. Maybe that helps me regaining my inner peace", he explained.
He was startled when he recieved a sudden tight hug from Harsh. "I am proud of you my son....this is your best decision", he sniffed as tears came in his eyes. Abhimanyu slowly reciprocated the hug, smiling at him and the rest of the family members.
"It's still unbelievable.....our actual charm is returning to the hospital", Mahima exclaimed happily, wiping her tears as well while others looked at Abhi proudly.
"And it's a party time for all the female staff and female patients too", Neil joked winking in Abhi's direction making everyone laugh.......
Abhimanyu stayed silent after that. Not because of any other reason, but because he was overwhelmed with the love and support his family was showing him this entire time. He could see the shine in their eyes and the wide smiles on their lips after this announcement and he felt light and satisfied. The accident did affect him to no extent, but his family was also suffering with him daily and today, after a long time, he was once again a reason of their smiles, instead of their stress.
And he had already given this credit to Akshara in his mind. She was the reason of this joyful moment in his family. It was her advice that made him rethink upon his decisions. Although, he might have received many advices all these years, but she was different.....her way was different and her effect on him was strong enough to last unlike others.
The thought of Akshara once again had sent this unsettling feeling in his heart- The feeling of acceptance....... acceptance of the fact that yes, he was feeling something for her. Maybe it was just a friendship, but it felt more intimate to him than it should be. She was affecting him in ways he couldn't understand.....was he really getting attracted to her?
Unknowingly, somewhere this feeling was making him feel alive again and gave him an unexplainable joy, but at the same time, his mind kept on labelling it as "cheating" and kept on pushing him further into guilt......how can he feel attracted towards Akshara when he was already yearning for the voice of his mysterious stranger? It was wrong, so wrong of him to think this way but he couldn't help it. Akshara was giving him the sukoon he was looking for, the similar sukoon and happiness that the voice gave him. He was confused. The voice of that girl saved his life when he was about to take a very bad decision, whereas Akshara was giving his life a new meaning and optimism.......how was he supposed to choose between them now?
