With much reluctance the flashy dude had let us in to meet his uncle.
And now we were in his office.
Master sitting comfortable in a chair, legs crossed and fingers intertwined while he stared at the old frail looking man on the other side of the desk who seemed to be drowning in his chair.
It was clear to me his golden years were over and he was but a shell of his former glory.
Did that shriveled up old raisin really think he could out wit my master?

With a flap of my wings I landed on the back of his chair and started to observe him from above.
He glanced up for a second and then turned back to master.

"If that bag of feathers dares to shit on me or my belongings I will shoot it."

"Shoot! I'd like tha see ya try. Shoot ya scurvy scallywag!"

I was jumping up and down on his head rest.

"Mimic behave yourself, pretty bird. The humans are talking."

Humans are talking... uhu... you may be my master but that's the second time you belittled me today.
With another flap of my wing I landed on his head and started to pull on his hairs.
Without saying anything he grabbed me flipped me on my back and held me down on his lap.
The look he gave me made it clear I was in trouble so I gently nibbled on his fingers trying to look innocent.

Master's eyes lingered on me for a few more seconds before turning to the old man again.

"So tell me Vincent. Did you really start seeing me as a treat or did you just want to steal my assets? I don't believe my business empire has grown that much to be of any threat to yours or your associates."

"I hear tales, Marcus Mortell. Tales I find quite disturbing. It's not your business that is the problem... you are. You are growing too bold for the past ten years. At first we could let it slide but people are disappearing. If they were from other families we wouldn't care but now our people are disappearing too. And somehow you seem to be in the middle of it."

The old man stared at master while taking out a gun from one of the drawer.
Master didn't flinch and just released the hold he had over me giving me the chance to flip back on my feet and climb back on his shoulder, never letting my eyes of the gun.

"That's a lame excuse Vincent. If your people had been disappearing it must have been some insignificant ones because the bigger fish want nothing to do with me. Imagine my surprise when Vinny contacted me for a deal."

The eyes of the old man furrowed and the grip on his gun tightened.
Master tilted his head towards me and softly pushed my body against his head with his hand like he was hugging me.
I didn't even need to look at master to feel the evil grin he had on his face just from the tension that was building between the men.

"Awn, did you really think I wouldn't know it was a trap? Pretty bold move to send Lorenzo's son after me. Poor boy never stood a chance..."

BANG.

The sound was hard and sudden.
Smoke was slowly circling up from the tip of the now trembling gun.
Wide frightened eyes were staring at me as I had formed a shield with my body in a split second to catch the bullet aimed at my master.

"Wha-wha-what the fuck is that!!!"

Vincent Gremore was sitting as far back in his chair as possible, if he could he would have crawled in the fabric.
His whole body turned rigid.
I extended my neck and face to curl around his chair like some translucent snake, trapping him in his seat.
I formed a sweet smile on my face and looked straight into his eyes.
Spitting out the bullet so it fell right on his lap.

"Hi, I'm Mimic."

He aimed his gun to my face and kept shooting until the gun was empty.
He was horrified when he heard me laugh.

"Hahahaha, that tickles!!"

My whole form was shaking from the vibrations.

"It, it speaks!"

"Mimic, grab his gun. Check him for more weapons and then let him go. I need him alive... for now."

I nodded and turned my metabolism off for a second while I engulfed him to check him out.
After I spat him out on the floor keeping his weapons secure in my body.

"Gross, gross, gross."

Vincent was visibly shaken by the whole ordeal, while master was clearly entertained by it.
I sat down on the desk looming half over the old man.
He had tattoo's just like the Lorenzo kid.
If only I could digest materials like his clothes I could have seen them all.
But alas, I can't.
My body doesn't see it as food so it won't do anything with it.

"Why do you have similar pictures on your body as that bald kid?"

Surprised by my sudden question Vincent looked up.

"It's our family weapon and a display of rank among our families. Why would a monster like you be interested at that?"

I leaned back on the desk and tilted my head unfazed, with the type of businesses this guy was involved with he had no right calling me a monster but I knew better than to start that discussion.

"I like pretty pictures."

My attention was drawn towards the fish moving in the tank in the corner so I slit off the desk to check it out.
In the mean time master had his chat with Vincent, without weapons he wasn't a threat anymore.

"Mimic, can you come over here?"

I pulled myself away from the fish and moved back towards my master.
Vincent had returned to his chair but stayed very wary of me.

"Are you sure that thing is safe?"

He asked master, clearly not comfortable now I had gotten close again.
I smirked back at him with a smile filled with shark teeth, relishing at the sight of his fear.

"Oh Mimic is most defiantly not safe. But it will obey me without question, won't you Mimic?"

I glared back at master, I hate these demeaning things.
But I lowered my frame a bit and responded meekly.

"Yes master."

"Good, in a few minutes a man will come up. He's going to preform some tests on you. Nothing too serious so just play along with him. I will be watching so if he does something I don't like I will stop him."

I just nodded, great some stranger is going to poke me and I can't eat him.
It didn't take long for a man in a long white jacket to come up.
When he saw me he got very exited.

"You really have one?! Wow that's amazing!"

He was skipping around me and touching me everywhere.
It only took seconds for me to get annoyed by it and I turned towards master.

"Do I really have to accept this?"

I whinned, before master could respond the now hyped up test guy cut in.

"It can speak?!! Is it intelligent?! I have to rethink the tests I want to do.
So many options! So little time... You have to lent me this marvelous specimen longer then just a few hours!"

My expression turned sour, this idiot was going to run tests on me for a few hours?
He had only been in the room for a few minutes and I was already contemplating if getting electrocuted for eating him despite master's order would be worth it.
