"The foods here!" Emily held up two large paper bags used to hold the to-go canisters from the restaurant they came from.

The other BAU members were happy to have a short break from this case. They crowded around the bags as Emily set them on the conference room table, and passed the containers around to everyone.
She didn't order anything specific for anyone, so people just traded and shared what they would eat.

The BAU sat down around the table in chairs, and ate their lunch.

"Where did you get this, anyway?" Rossi asked, using a pair of chopsticks to pick up a sushi roll.

"From a really nice Japanese place downtown." Emily replied through a mouth full of food.

"Local or chain?" He asked.

"Local, I think."

Not much conversation happened after that.
Reid hadn't touched his food much, besides what he was used to eating, like the noodles. Everyone else had a pretty diverse pallet compared to him, so they were eating everything.
Eventually, the others noticed his pickiness, and tried to get him to try something different.

"Come on, Reid" JJ tried to persuade, "All it is it rice and seaweed." She held a sushi roll in her chopsticks, trying to give it to him.
The others soon held out other flavors to him, all wanting him to do the same thing.

"No guys. I'm ok, really." Reid tried to declined, but they persisted.

Morgan decided to tease him a little to get him to cave in. "Come on, aren't you a big boy. Big boys eat their veggies." His voice was mocking and baby-like.

"Fine, fine." Reid said, taking the piece of sushi from Morgan's chopsticks into his mouth.

He chewed it for a moment. He wasn't very fond of the texture, but it tasted fine. After just a few seconds of chewing it, Reid's mouth began to tingle, but he just thought that was because it was spicy.
He swallowed the sushi roll, and sat unmoved for another second or so, thinking of his opinion in terms of the new food he just tried.
But then his throat got scratchy. Again, Reid thought the sushi roll might have had wasabi on it or was just spicy so he tried to ignore it.
He coughed to maybe rid the discomfort in his throat. But then it hit him. His esophagus was much thicker and slow moving than usual. It was tighter, and his breaths turned into pants.

"What...what was in that?" Reid asked, his face turning red as his voice was breathy.

"Uh, what do you mean? Are you ok?" Morgan replied, pretty much ignoring the initial question.

JJ put her hand on Reid's shoulder to possibly calm him down. She seemed worried by his worry, and just wanted to comfort him.

Reid began to sweat from the exertion, and placed his hand over his neck to help in someway.

"Come on, Bambi. There's no need to be so dramatic. It's just a new taste you're not used to." Rossi laughed, not having caught on to the severity of the situation.

"I cant breathe..." Reid eventually said, his body starting to ache from the lack of sufficient oxygen.

The others jumped at that. They needed to do something. They crowded around him to possibly help him.

"What happened?" Hotch asked, needing to know the nature of the issue to address it properly.

"EpiPen." Reid choked out, letting his eyes linger towards his bag.

JJ quickly reached for it and pulled out what she assumed was a shot of epinephrine. She wasn't sure how to administer it, so she began to panic.

"My thigh, for ten seconds..." Reid wheezed.

"Call 911." Hotch ordered to somebody. Anyone who was closest to a phone would be fine.

JJ pressed the needle side of the EpiPen to an area on the top of Reid's right thigh. She looked up to him to ask if her placement was ok. He nodded in assurance, but was caught off guard by the sudden pain of the needle cutting through him. He thought JJ would have been a bit more hesitant than that.

"Oh my god, I'm sorry Reid! I don't know what I'm doing." She said frantically, scared she may have done something wrong because of the wince on his face.

"No-no, leave it in." He ordered, making sure his medicine was administered properly.

After about fifteen seconds, Reid grabbed JJ's hand and pulled the EpiPen out of his leg. He breathed a heavy sigh of relief, and continued to catch his breath. Everyone else looked at him with hopeful faces, optimistic that he was ok.

"What. Was. In. That?" Reid asked again, much more irritated now.

"The sushi?" Morgan looked down to his plate, "I don't know; seaweed, rice, shrimp, avocado?"

"Shrimp?" Reid chuckled, "I'm allergic." He wiped his hand over his face to clear it of sweat.

"Do you need any medical attention?" Hotch asked, they had already called for an ambulance.

"Yeah, I could flare up again. Epinephrine doesn't mean I'm cured. I need to be monitored at a hospital." Reid was still panting slightly, but the redness in his face had gone down.

"We already called for an ambulance. They're on their way." Hotch assured.

"I wouldn't have teased you into eating that if I knew it was-" Morgan nervously tried to explain.

"I know. I never told you about it anyways." Reid smiled, still a little giddy from the adrenaline rush his EpiPen gave him.
