The work day ended after what felt like forever.
After the tour I went back with Eren who gave me several tasks. All of them being different.

Whether a delivery, cleaning, or training. There was no consistency whatsoever.

Now I see why Aoi gets so bored.

I didn't mind then, but now I'm done being busy  and I feel completely and utterly alone.

No Aether to go home to.
No Paimon.
No teapot.

Not even money to try and get food.
And no clothes.

Part of me wanted to go back to the place I'd call home with Aether but I knew he wouldn't be happy that I gave up.

I stood outside of the Tenrou commission for a few more minutes, brainstorming for any ideas on what to do.

Eventually I gave up, preparing to walk away to the forest before a voice yelled after me. "Y/n! Let's go eat!"
I recognized the voice of Aoi, turning to see her running to me. "Let's go eat!"

I smiled sadly. "I'm sorry but I can't. Unfortunately i don't have any Mora." I apologized to her but she didn't have any of that. "So? I'll pay for you. No problem!"

I laughed awkwardly. "That's really not necessary. I don't wan to trouble you-" I tried arguing but Aoi put her hand up to my face, shooshing me. "No objections. Food. Now. You don't not want to see me hangry."

She locked her arm with mine and we started walking to a nearby restaurant.

She sighed relaxingly. "Ahh, isn't this nice?"

I smiled. "Yes. Yes it is."

I have a feeling we're going to be great friends.
______
"Can I get the tri-flavored skewers, with two onigiri, please?" Aoi ordered first
"I'll take the Katsu Sandwich please."
I chose the cheapest thing on the menu I could find that would fill me up. The Waitress nodded. "Of course."

Aoi thanked her and she walked away. Aoi diverted her attention towards me.

"So how'd you get this job?" She sipped on her drink waiting for my answer.

"I found an ad from a paper. And I was already previously looking for a job so I guess it was perfect." I shrugged and she nodded contently.

"How long have you been at the Tenrou commission?" I asked.

"My dad worked there for my whole life and then he retired... then Eren picked it up and now I work there with Eren...
And Eren has worked there for like, hmm 4 or 5 years and I've worked there for about 2"

I nodded. "You two seem like quite the characters."

She laughed at this. "He similar to our father."
I hummed. "What about you?"

She smiled. "I don't take after neither. I'm just Aoi. I don't think I fit in with my family much."

I nodded empatheticly. "I feel that. How so?"

She sighed. "They've always been so serious. And I just remember being a child and seeing the world and enjoying it and observing how the leaves aren't green forever; and the animals can't stay forever.
And realizing we're like that too, so we've got to make the most out of it." She said cheerfully.

I smiled. I loved her enthusiasm. "That's a great mindset."
"It's actually pretty cheesy."
She laughed while I shook my head.

The waitress returned with our food.
"Enjoy." We both thanked her.

"Oh my god. I've been dying to eat. This is going to be amazing." Aoi didn't waste a single second before diving into her food.

I picked up my sandwich and ate it slowly, peering up to watch Aoi ferally eat her food.

And I also enjoyed my meal, taking my time to eat it unlike Aoi, who finished much before me.

She waited for me to finish before we paid and left.

"So what was your favorite part of today?" Aoi nudged me.

I thought to myself, reviewing my day before answering. "When you jumped on Eren's back. You should've seen the look on his face." I chuckled.

She laughed and nodded and I shot back. "How 'bout you?"

She hummed, tapping her foot on the ground with her finger on her chin. "Probably touring you around."

That warmed my heart. "Aw. I think we're going to have a lot of fun together."

"Alright. I can walk you home if you want?"

I stayed silent. The fact of being homeless completely slipped my mind.

"Y/n?"

"Uhmm...."

"You do have a home, don't you?"

"About that."

—————-

"Are you sure I can stay, Aoi? I feel like I'm intruding."

Aoi placed a blanket on the floor next to her bed. "What?! Of course not! You can live with me for all I care." She smiled brightly.
She was wearing her pink pijamas and I was wearing my baggy purple button up.

It seemed to be big enough to not need pants with.

"Thank you. You have no idea how much this means to me."

"You're very welcome. And enough with the formalities. I'm going to get you a pillow." She walked out of the room. Her house was just as I would imagine.
Aoi had this girly fashion thing about her.

Her bedroom walls were pastel pink and had pictures of her and people I don't know all over.

It reminded me of my room from back home in Mondstat.

"Here you go!" Aoi chucked a pillow at me, interrupting my thoughts. It hit me right in the face and I fell on my butt.

She started cracking up laughing. "I'm sorry!" She rolled all over the floor and I chuckled.

"Goodnight Aoi. Thanks again." I placed the pillow on the floor and grabbed another blanked, cuddling up in it.

"Goodnight, y/n."

The last thing I thought of before sleeping was the guy with horns. And his confessions.

"So you robbed the Hayashi's?..."

"Yes. I did it."
"All."
"I attacked the couple and robbed the Hamasaki's.

I have word slips too, but the way he confessed so unsurely.

Maybe he's just an idiot.

I can't help if I want to dig for more details. That's always been something I do.

Yes. I know he's a criminal... but what if there's something more?

And if you're a criminal, does that make you bad?

Am I being unprofessional if I am curious?
