Gotham had never been described as the prettiest place in North America. It was nothing like the clean streets and fair food that littered Central City with friendly enough looking dogs, nor was it like the colours and shapes that took Metropolis by storm that created buildings that scratched the Heavens that were mere obstacles to Superman. They were worlds that were simply perfect for their residential heroes.

And, unfortunately, Gotham was perfect for its hero.

Gotham didn't even come close to the idealistic worlds that the Flash, or Superman had created. The dark city could never glimmer in the sun, never allowing the occupants of it enjoy a warm evening. Shadows easily flooded the streets, scaring its people back into their homes, praying for sunnier days.

It was a poison. A vicious and curled vine that wrapped it's deathly essence onto the legs of the unsuspecting. Slowly, yet surely, dragging its victims towards an inky and uncertain abyss, a place where the sun would never dare to shine.

The abyss was Gotham and it's madness, its hellish prison that took innocents without warning.

Perhaps that's why it had fit its Vigilantes best, the Dark Knight and his loyal companions striking down drug lords and Gotham's own Villains under the sheath of darkness. Hidden, lurking, yet still there to observe. Batman was this foul city's protector from the evil that shone greater than Gotham's shadowed good, thriving off the city's lackluster. Bodies would collect on the streets, homelessness being at large, violent protests and substance abuse evident as it litters alleys and sidewalks and the occasional assholery attitude most citizens of Gotham obtained.

Yet, despite the threat the city presented in itself, no one moved away. There were promises of moving out of such a shitty place, away from the violence and chaos Batman and Joker would create in their city. However, words were just that and they stayed. It was curious to think what exactly made them stay in a terrible place.

Was it Bruce Wayne and its other wealthy occupants? The 'opportunities' hidden underneath the cobble? Was it because living here would be easier than living in a city that actually gave a shit?

Bianca didn't really have these problems. The worry of staying in on spot for too long, that is. She was bound to Gotham City as if there were an iron chain around her ankles, keeping her no farther than what that length would allow. The brand of that iron belonged to Bruce Wayne, keeping her at bay at his beck and call.
