"Where's Trinity?"
Lahat ng matatalim na mata sa department ay nasa akin simula ng pumasok ako sa opisina. Hindi ko pa nakikita mula kanina si Jacob at mukhang puyat na nagpapahinga sa opisina nya ngayon.
Si mommy, naman ang naabutan kong nagluluto ng almusal at mukha rin naman na walang tulog siguro ay kakahintay sa akin.
Paraiso is a mother of mine; it is normal for her to be worried and be like this. Lesson learned, I guess: do not sleep with a person without your mother's approval. My loss will be her dead bed.
Naayos ko na rin ang resignation letter ko at naipasa ko na kay Sir Tiago para maaprubahan.
Lumapit sa akin si Kyla ng may nag-aalalang mukha, "Avy, yung nanggulo dito nung nakaraan, pumunta ulit siya kaso hindi siya nakapasok sa building kaya nagwala sa labas tapos...
Nag-aalangan na ituloy ang sinasabi, "tapos ano? What happened?" Naiinip kong tanong.
"Kay Trinity siya nakinig tapos magkasama sila Trinity paalis gamit yung sasakyan nung lalaki." She said, threatened by the event she witnessed earlier.
Did Trinity have something to tell? I brushed my thoughts off dahil siguro naging close din sila matapos noong insidente noong nakaraang araw. Inaayos ko ang mga natitirang mga gamit ko sa office cubicle ko ng lapitan muli ako ni Kyla.
"Uhm, Avy... do you mind if I ask about our boss?"
Bemused by her question, still face her and let her continue to talk. "Go ahead."
Kyla fidgets with her sweating fingers as she opens her mouth. Nautal-utal pa syang magsalita, kaya nanliit ang mata ko ng mapansin kong nakatingin narin ang iba pang mga empleyado sa amin.
"Mr. Jacob, a-ano, are you dating him? Hindi naman sa pangengealam, pero ano k-kasi after the incident, you two didn't go to work, and now you're resigning,"
She stopped asking when Jacob halted in front of us. The whole department stopped talking shit and started gushing over Jacob's handsome appearance. Halos hindi ko na napansin ang tanong ni Kyla dahil sa nilang na ito na bigla bigla na lang sumusulpot.
Yet Jacob didn't leave his sight on me, down to my left hand. looking for something. I didn't wear the ring he gave me because it only attracts attention because of the big diamond in the middle, and I'm through with my workmates.
"Too flashy, Jacob."
Lagi na nga humahatak ng atensyon ang presensya ko tapos susuotin ko pa ang ganoon ka-engrandeng singsing. I'm not being ungrateful, but I want a ring that is simple and sincere.
Yung pinaalam sa magulang at nasa tamang oras at lugar. because he put the ring on right after committing sin. That's an improper proposal.
Jacob, or should I call him Damo, finally noticed Kyla, who was waiting for my answer.
"Yes, we're dating." He dismissed Kyla and looked at the employees in our department, saying, "Also, I don't know if the employees in the finance department want to lose their job or they're just natural-born gossip mongers. Are you?" Jacob seems to be in a bad mood today; did I mention that his dark circles are more visible?
"Answer!"
His voice thundered on the whole floor, which made the other department beside our room sneak in. Even our head, the everyday bad mood Mr. Gaison Tiago, went in to our department looking like he's about to be executed.
"N-No, Sir." Kyle's voice trembled.
"Mr. Gaison, discipline your people. One more thing, everyone: there is missing a million pesos that is supposed to be deposited. Where is it? Pass me the report! Don't make me go through all your accounts. Dismissed!"
Tahimik lang na nakatayo at nakayuko ang mga officemates ko habang ang Iba ay pasimpleng nagkakamot ng ulo ang Iba ay nagbubulungan.
He turned his gaze on me. From his enraged and tough expression, his face softened and looked tired.
"Ba—" he paused and cleared his throat. I witnessed how some of the employees held their smiles. Ako naman ang nahihiya. He almost called me babe again.
"Avyanna, I request your audience at my office. After you pack your things," He started.
Aalis na sana sya, pero mabilis kong binaba ang mga gamit ko saka hinawakan ang braso nya.
"Can't we talk now?"
I noticed how he licked his lower lip, thinking while staring at my face. I wonder what's on his beautiful mind.
"Du hast wirklich gewartet, Liebe? Okay, let's go." (You really hate waiting, love?) He grabbed my waist and gently pulled me to his side.
Before we even entered the department office, we heard Mr. Tiago complain about his employees.
Jacob is not weird. I just don't understand what language he's speaking; maybe he's teasing me. Hindi nalang ako nagsalita; it's a question that I'll never know.
"Baby," he called me.
Nasa tapat sya ng pinto ng bedroom nya ng tawagin nya ako. I remain seated on the couch while waiting for him to continue.
"I want to sleep; please join me." He lends his hand. waiting for me.
"You have pillows, Damo; go on. rest." I should avoid sleeping with him, or everything will go dirty again.
He pouted. walking on our distance to sit beside me. "We won't make love, love. I know, and I also want to do it after marriage, and I'm sorry for proposing in such an unimpressive way—I know it's fucked up."
He leaned on the sofa and rested his head on his right hand, facing me. I know we won't do it, but part of me still thinks he will. Even his actions testify that he wants to do it but is tamed and controlled.
I want to grant him his request to sleep with me, but will he keep his hands to himself? I even find myself uncontrolled when we're alone, so I have a hard time deciding whether I should let him go or stay here on the soft sofa.
Pipikit na sana sya nang bigla akong nagtanong.
How can he sleep in such a position?
"Damo, did you sleep?"
I tapped his shoulder. He looks knackered and sleepy just by forcing himself to open his eyes. I chuckled when he caught my hand and placed it on his cheeks.
He chuckled as he drifted to sleep on the sofa. I can't believe I'm adoring this man. He's shooting his silly shots.
"Just a couple of hours," he yawned, "and I'll let you call me silly nicknames so I can call you love, baby, or mein Universum." (my universe)
