Kline wished he hadn't decided to take this deal and let some other cross roads demon do it. The woman was smart and very, very paranoid. Her house looked like he had walked into one of those insane Christian's house. The people who would sacrifice their children in the name of God. He didn't understand them at all but it freaked him out.
He walked into it totally blind too. Not thinking at the time that she might try to trap in him a devils trap like he was right now. He honestly put too much faith in his customers, or maybe rather, that he doubted their intelligence too much. This made him furious, he had other places to be.
He told Sarai he would be back tonight but the sun was already setting. It had been two days. The woman wasn't done with him either, she wanted to make sure that her deal would go smoothly. That he wasn't a fraud like the others that said they could make a deal with her, only to try to scam her later. He thought he had finally convinced her though as she was letting her guard down. Slowly.
Her desire or want was simple enough, wanting only a man that worked in the same place as her to love her. He had never really even noticed her in other circumstances. Kline could do it no problem, he made these deal so often you would think it was going out of style. It was making her believe that was the hard part. She had finally let him out of the devils trap now and he was less agitated.
"You will listen to me and do what I ask, you understand demon?" The woman said. Kline leaned up against one of the door frames and rolled his eyes. He would play in her little games and let her think she was the one in charge. He kept to himself that he knew he could end her existence in a moment. "For the last time, yes I understand. Now can we get going? I've got other things I need to do today." Kline said with a sigh, this was boring him. She nodded and he snapped his fingers.
They were in a hospital now where the woman worked; where she had 'commanded' he take her. "All you have to do now is seal the deal with a kiss." Kline said to her.
"I want to see him first." The woman said defiantly. Kline sighed heavier now and snapped his fingers again, a doctor now stood before them. He looked confused and dazed.
"There, happy now?" He asked her. She nodded "Yes."
She got up on her tiptoes to kiss him as she was much smaller then her. As their lips met Kline felt nothing, this was all too familiar to him as he had been doing it since he became a demon. It was the voice he heard that sent him reeling back from the woman. The deal was sealed and the doctor looked at her and his eyes softened.
As for Kline though, he was not so lucky. "Kline?" Sarai's voice shook. His heart stopped, everything froze.
"Sarai-" He began but for once, his voice was caught in his throat.
"Wh-Why? How could you?" Sarai choked out. Her eyes were wild and quickly filling with tears. Kline wanted nothing more in the world then to take hold of her waist and hold her and explain everything.
"Sarai you don't understand" He spoke softly. As he took as step forward she flicked her wrist and he was blown back by an unseen force.
"Don't! Don't you dare touch me!" She shrieked, eyes full of tears. But that's not what Kline was looking at. Her beautiful hazel eyes were now a golden color. He gasped as her form changed. She had huge, blindingly white wings that shimmered. A halo also floated above her head.
"Sarai! Please! Listen to me." Kline was loud now. He couldn't let her change into her true form, she would kill everyone in the hallway if they looked at her. Which, in this moment was hard not to look at the shimmering angel. He reached for her just as she changed but then disappeared into nothing.
She was an angel. He was in love with a fucking angel. How ironic was that? He didn't know what to do or how to feel. His heart and mind were racing with a million different thoughts and emotions. The woman's deal was sealed and she was happy with a man that was forced to love her.
Kline, on the other hand was feeling what the end of the world felt like. He didn't know what to do, let alone what to say. He wanted her back. He wanted to hold her close and be able to smell her familiar scent that comforted him. He wanted to kiss her and wipe the tears from her eyes and protect her.
How could he protect her though, if she never wanted to see him again. And with her being an angel she could end his life. He might actually take that death with open arms now though, he thought.
