Chapter 2

The drive to the hotel was long and even when he finally did park his car and got out the moment he looked at the bright lights from the luxurious hotel that got everyone's attention all Jason could see was his past laying before him, his memories of his drinking problem just hitting him in the face as if it was just yesterday he was an alcoholic even though he had been clean for almost 2 years now. Seeing this place made him want to throw up but Jason pushed those urges down and made his way into the hotel, Jason looked around taking in the glorious sights of this hotel but he didn't want to waste time looking at the sights because honestly just being here made him want to go back to drinking. Jason was about to text his partner that he was there but just as he pulled out his phone to call his partner a familiar voice came from behind him

"There you are Matthews, i was wondering what was taking you so long, thought you might have gotten lost in a bar or something drinking your sorrow's away" the man joked.

Jason hardly found this funny as a scowl found its way to his face

"enough with your bullshit Anderson! you aren't even remotely funny... besides we are here for a case not for you to test out your pathetic comedic skills!" Jason hissed at his partner coldly...

Anderson shut his mouth right quick as he knew he pissed off the man and well Jason might not have noticed it but he was quite scary when he was angry.

Anderson was quick to change the topic as he rubbed the back of his neck

"r-right, the case well let's go check out the crime scene... to what i hear it's bloodbath" Anderson spoke as the two walked to the elevator and went to the 14th floor of the hotel.

The silence was enough to hear a pin drop with how quiet it was until the ding of the elevator broke the silence... Jason and Anderson left the elevator as they walked through the abandoned hallways and Jason's heartbeat throbbed in his ears the closer the two got to the crime scene, finally, after what seemed like forever Jason was stopped outside a room with yelled crime scene tape covering the door... Room 412. Jason preparing for what he was about to witness opened the door slowly as he stepped under the police tape to see the medical team taking photos of the body as the forensic team were doing their duties as well... the crime scene was more brutal than the last one he had seen... there was a young man tied to a chair in the centre of the hotel room with his hands tied behind his back, his shirt was ripped open with numerous slashes on him... there was blood pouring from his head as if he had been hit with something and not to mention half this man's blood was plastered on the walls of this room, and a huge pool of blood underneath the victim, it was gruesome and not a lot of people could stomach seeing such a scene as it was clear this man had gone through some painful torture.

Jason looked to the medical examiner and tried to remain cool and collected

"what was the cause of death?" he asked.

The woman looked up for a moment

"honestly a lot of these wounds were inflicted pre-mortem which would make one think blood loss was the cause of death, but i found a bullet hole at the back of his head" she explained but Jason soon cut her off

"he was killed executioner style? just like the previous victims... it seems our killer is back" Jason sighed...

why did it have to be this one killer... he already believed the killer was a part of the well-known Mafia, but honestly who the hell would be ready to go after the Mafia if they believed they were the cause of these mass killings. Anderson was about to ask the medical examiner something but well he soon just run out into the hallway and vomited on the floor, he wasn't able to handle seeing such a scene, and well Jason just groaned.... he really needed a new partner

"was there anything else that we should know about?" Jason asked the woman to which she stood up and got off the floor

"well, to what i can gather from the scene, your victim wasn't suspecting any of this, i suspect he was in here with someone... otherwise, i can't understand how one would get in this situation and not fight back... because judging by the scene your victim didn't put up much of a fight, whatever happened here is for you to figure out though, because well i don't have the answers to everything" the woman told Jason a bit annoyed only because she hadn't gotten all of the medical evidence yet and well she knew she had a lot of work to do... she also wanted this killer caught.

Jason placed a hand under his chin as he tried to think of what could be to explain why this man didn't put up much of a struggle as not much of the room was disturbed but well since he knew the female medical examiner... what was her name? oh right! it was Hannah, well since Hannah was a bit wound tight Jason loved annoying her and making her job difficult so he spoke up

"hmmm could be rough sex gone wrong" he said jokingly...

just so he could annoy this woman as he knew this was not the reason for the man not struggling more. Hannah paked up her equipment before giving Jason a death glare

"can you take your job seriously for once! collect your evidence or something and got back the preicident and catch the motherfucker who has been terrozing this town and scaring everyone half to death with this brutal murders" she huffed as she went to walk out, even agressivly bumping shoulders with the man

"nice doing business with you too Hannah" he called to the woman with a smirk just to earn a groan from her and a door slamming behind her

"pfft annoying her never gets old" Jason said to himself with a smirk...

but the woman was right he really did need to focus on this case and get a start on catching their killer before another person dies... the town was getting antsy about the police not yet even having a suspect (because no one would listen to Jason's theory) and well even the chief of police was getting backleash for letting so many people die before even doing anything about it... the backlash was getting so bad that of course Jason was working MORE hours just to find a more pleasuible suspect that his team would accept... because at this point the Squad was looking for a person to blame these murders on just to appease the town... whether that said person commited the crimes or not.
