The ride felt like an eternity that was only bearable due to Parker's firm grip on my hand and our whispered conversations along the way. The two men were dressed completely in black and holding what appeared to be some form of AR's or something. They were rather quiet and didn't seem to have much of a sense of humor. Mr. North had continued researching into Sam's life, stopping every so often to whisper something to us before diving right back in. Suddenly we jolted to a stop and the engine cut off, all three of us falling silent as we heard the front door open and then close. Seconds later the back door was heard rolling up and then the hidden box door clinked open letting light spill in.
"We're here." Aaron stated causing all of us to stand and the two men to walk out first followed by us, Parker leading with Mr. North in back
I jumped down onto the concrete and looked around to see a giant garage like structure filled with various vehicles and even a couple aircrafts.
"What is this place?" I asked turning to Aaron
He shrugged "Home base for now."
I nodded and took a Parker's hand causing her to flinch slightly and look to Aaron who had a strange expression covering his features.
"Follow me." He stated before turning and leading us to a doorway
We all walked in, being met with a long concrete hall that had another doorway at the end. He opened it and we all continued to follow after him into a large concrete room that was absolutely buzzing with people. There were computers and wires scattered everywhere and guards with guns along each wall. I looked to Parker and she gave me smile, squeezing my hand for reassurance.
"Can you take us to our designated hall?" Parker asked causing Aaron to look back and give her a nod before leading us up a set of stairs on the right
"While you are here there will be some rules." Aaron stated as we climbed up "Firstly you cannot leave without permission under any circumstances. Secondly you cannot try to call or have outside communication if any kind as it could compromise our location. Thirdly, every gun must be registered with our safety team and you must get clearance to carry. You get a twenty four hour grace period with that solely because I already know you so please don't delay going and do not make me regret breaching protocol for you." He stopped turning to look at us, Parker nearly running right into him "Are we clear?"
"Yes sir." She nodded
He turned to me and Mr. North who both nodded and muttered out "Yes sir."
He turned back around and continued forward before stopping at a circular doorway "This is your dorming hall where you are all stationed as requested Parker. Everyone has already been added to the scanner here," he pointed to an screen on the left "so just show your face and then walk right in."
Parker went over, red beams scanning her face before the doors opened.
She turned to Aaron and he smiled "You'll find clean clothes and new shoes in each of your rooms. Everyone try to get some rest and we'll work on figuring out a plan of action tomorrow."
"Thank you." Parker smiled over to him
"Yeah thank you." I nodded
Mr. North awkwardly nodded to him as well "Thanks man."
Aaron gave him a strange look and then just shrugged to himself before walking away. Parker walked straight into the hall that had three doors on each side and one at the very end. Upon closer inspection I could see Parker's name on the first on the right and... Colton's on the first on the left.
I turned to look at Parker and she smiled "Go ahead and knock."
I shakily held up my hand and then knocked twice against the metal door.
"What now!" Colton's voice yelled from the other side as the door swung open
His hair was disheveled, strewn about in a million direction and his eyes bloodshot "Harp?"
I visibly cringed and he gave me a strange look.
Without a word I just pulled him into a hug and he quickly wrapped his arms tightly around me.
He let out a breathe as he released me "What the hell is all of this?"
"It's too much to explain right now." I stated biting my lip as I looked at the ground
He stepped past me through the door way causing me to look up and watch as he knocked on the other two doors on his side of the hall. The farthest door opened first and Luna peeked her head out, her eyes going wide when she spotted me.
"Harp!" She exclaimed before running towards me and literally tackling me in a hug
I was conflicted, both sick to my stomach and excited to see her as I hugged her back weakly. She finally let me go as the second door opened and my mom walked out, freezing as her eyes landed on me. I could see the tears welling up in her eyes so I walked right over and hugged her tightly.
I haven't had this many hugs in years I don't think.
"I'm so glad you're okay." She whispered out
I pulled back and smiled weakly "I'm glad you're all okay too."
The door at the end of the hall opened as Jane walked out Harper went right over and pulled her into a tight hug, the two exchanging some whispered words.
Jane turned to me and my stomach turned as she smiled at me "Glad to see you're okay."
"Thanks." I mumbled back with a nod
"So are you gonna explain now?" Colton questioned, his arms crossed over his chest as he leaned against the wall, his eyes narrowed on me
Parker now interjected "Everyone will be briefed tomorrow."
Colton scoffed and looked her over seemingly sizing her up as he took a step towards her "And who are you to decide that we have to wait to find out why we were literally forced here against our will?"
I stepped in front of him, putting my hand on his chest causing him to look down at me, his eyes filled with anger.
"Colton calm down okay, it's not her call." I stated causing him to glare at her once more before turning and pacing the floor down the hall
"Then whose call is it?" Luna questioned
I let out a sigh "Look everyone's questions will be answered tomorrow."
"Can you at least tell me what happened to your face?" My mom asked reaching over and running her thumb along my cheek
I flinched away "Nothing, it's not a big deal."
"Not a big deal?" Colton yelled as he walked back towards us "How is all of this not a big deal?"
"Colton calm down." Luna stated looking over at him
He let out a huff and then rolled his eyes "Whatever, guess we'll find out tomorrow right?"
I nodded and he scoffed walking straight into his room and slamming the door shut behind himself.
"He's just overwhelmed and worried about you." Luna stated smiling weakly over at me
When did they get so close?
I gave her a look and she instantly looked down at the ground as I spoke "Yeah I'm sure that's it."
"Alright well, why don't we go back to sleep and let them get settled." My mom said giving me a conflicted smile
"Yeah alright, night Harp." Luna nodded
Harp.
"Goodnight love you kiddo." My mom said pulling me in for a hug before releasing me
They both went back into their rooms leaving us standing there awkwardly.
"Anyone know where the bathroom is?" Mr. North asked
"I second that question." I added in
