Chapter One: Rushing For Breakfast

Monday, December 10th (Cali's POV)

I woke up directly at 5:30 a.m to get me and Kalani ready. I heard to the TV in the living room downstairs come on, indicating Grandma was up. I got out of bed and walked into my bathroom to take a shower. I looked in the mirror at the scar that goes down my thigh from mid-thigh to my knee. I sighed and turned on the water, waiting for it to get steaming hot. Once it got hot enough, I slipped off my night clothes and hopped in. I washed my hair, body, and face. I got out and wrapped a towel around my body and another around my hair. I brushed my teeth then walked into my room to get ready.

I walked to my closet and got my burgundy "DOPE" crewneck, my light blue faded jeans and burgundy vans (in the MM). I went to my dresser and got some undergarments and a white long sleeve tee and some black tights for extra warmth. It's cold in Chicago and I need to stay warm so I don't get sick. I put my clothes on and went to wake up Kalani to get her ready.

Today, she was already up watching the Octonauts. "Goodmorning mommy!" she screamed as she jumped off the bed to come give me a hug. "Goodmorning babygirl. Did you sleep good?" I asked as I kissed her cheek. "Yes mommy!" she gasped. "Miss Mawshall (Marshall) said we get to make Christmas List today!!" she said with excitement, wiggled right out of my grip and ran to the bathroom. She's such a handful. I walked to the bathroom after her and started her bath. It was warm enough for her to step in so she get in and washed herself up. "I can do it by myself mommy." She was motioning her hand for me to get out of the bathroom.

I walked out the bathroom and walked into her room and picked her clothes out. I got her undergarments white long sleeves tee with leggings and jewelry out. I walked to the closet and got her favorite crewneck with The Little Mermaid, Ariel's face up there, light blue jeans and her timberlands.
"Mommy!!" she yelled. I ran to the bathroom seeing her trying to wash her hair. "Lemme me do it, Lani." I washed her hair, rinsed then drained her bath water out and gave her a towel. She ran to her room, dried off and put on her clothes.

While she was doing that, I did my hair. It was straight with a few curl riglets falling. When I got finished, I put some hair cream on her hair so it would have those pretty curls hanging down. She brushed her teeth, we both put our jewelry on along with a hat and coat and walked downstairs to eat.

After we ate, we kissed Grandma and Grandpa goodbye. It was 6:45 when we walked out the door to get in my white Range Rover. I turned the car on along with heat and the radio. My bestfriend, Christana called me.
"Hello?"
"Goodmorning Girla, don't forget your gym bag is in my car and we have gym today"
"Thank goodness you reminded me but I'm taking Lani to school. Did you eat this morning?"
"Nope." she said popping the P. "Can you get me 2 bo-berry biscuits from Bojangles?" she asked as I was pulling off.
"Arrd. I'ma get it after I drop off Lani. I'll see you at school"
"Arrd, lemme speak to Lani right quick."
"Ok," I gave the phone to Kalani.
She giggled and told Christana what she wanted for Christmas. I made a mental note for me and Christana to separate what we were getting her. "Ok, Bye Aunt Chriwty (Christy)" Lani said as I turned into the parking lot to drop her off.
"Bye babygirl, I love you!"
"I wuv you too" she hung up.

I got out and went to the other side to get her out the car. I unbuckled her and she hopped out, grabbing her bookbag and closing the door behind her. I walked her to class and kissed her goodbye. She went to go sit down in her seat. I walked off texting Christy to let her know that I was going to get her breakfast and I bumped into a tall figure, dropping my phone in the process.
"Shit"
"My bad, ma" he bent down to get my phone.
"Thank You" I looked to see if it was cracked then looked at him.
He was handsome. A carmel skin tone with pretty white teeth, a deep voice and NOLA accent.
"What's your name, Ma?"
"Caliana but people call me Cali."
"I'm August and it's a pleasure to meet a goddess like you, Cali"
"Thank you" I was blushing.
"No Problem, ma"
"Well, I have to go. Bye August" I waved him goodbye.
"Bye Cali"

I rushed to get Christy's breakfast then to school. I walked into the cafeteria and sat down with my crew.
"Finally!" Christy said licking her lips.
"Yeah yeah, sorry," I laughed.
"Wassup Cali" Jason, Trey, Chris, Brianna and Jada said.
"Wassup" I dapped up all the boys and gave my girls a hug.
Everyone was having a good time talking and then "He" walked into the cafeteria.

Her and August go to the same school. If anyone was confused, August was at the pre-school to drop his nieces off😅
