And,also,the Beginning.
The joy to see,the delight to touch and the rawness of the feelings, all filled up the senses. Little was the realization that gave so much pain, in the end. The flickering flame couldn't be blown out completely and it didn't burn brightly, either.
The precise start was long forgotten, the images blurred, the sequence of the words jumbled..but.., but the emotions remained intact like it was engraved in the memory, that emptiness, the drowning in the nothingness of the feeling that kept her breathing.
It was the sixth Friday since the promise was made. She stood by the steps with the heavy school bag pulling her down. She looked straight up, knew it was time, her heart beat was like the native drums, one glimpse and she held the moment. And he..,he actually came down the steps reluctantly, obviously forgetting the petty promise he made in his long forgotten whim. Here she looked up with expectation and desire. The heart beat faster!
He brushed past her and somehow managed a wink!..She, the foolish 'she' thought it was his call for her. But before she could react, he hoped down the stairs, got lost in the crowd ....and she stood, confused at first but slowly realization crept in. The night fell on her. She turned to take the steps which directly lead to the school chapel, and there...she let it out..silently screaming, gasping for air until she fell on her knees and sort for answers unknown to her.Months passed by, nothing changed, apart from the hope that had faded, and almost gone. And then a year, nothing changed and almost forgetting everything she moved on ahead. There, suddenly out of no where he appeared again. This time, only to assure her that he wasn't ever there, that he never cared, only a wild whim, floating from time to time.
