By the moonlight

Under the spotlight, in open and boundless fields-
I peer onward at the horizon where the clouds meet to part
Under such gentle glows she descends from heaven,
Her grace radiates by candle light warding off evil;
Her tender smile banishes the dark from every corner of the night.

In the solitude of my home; she slips in through the dark,
Leaving behind arching rays of moonlight.
Their bleached light embraces me in subtle warmth,
I drift off in the dark thinking of moonlight.

As days turn to nights and nights fade into days,
Her elegance begins to wane.
Every night the darkness grows, and the light becomes thinner.
I wander in the fields hoping for moonlight

One day and one night, the sky mourns her light, in darkness and pain.
The stars hum in blight, they sing lullabies in her absence wishing for calm.

I peer out the glass; blinded by sadness-
Her luminous smile brought back my sight.
I smile in return, sitting by the moonlight.
