I gazed in horror at the living corpse of my former nemesis Dark Seegnal. His skin was bluish gray from decay. His cheeks were sunken and his eyes were like two fried eggs. There was an open gap in his abdomen from where Zara had plunged her blade. His long coat looked as decayed as the rest of him covered in dirt and mud.
Dark Seegnal's cracked lips parted as he said in a voice like dust, "Zeronia, why did you let this happen to me?"
I was transfixed on the decaying face of my old enemy unable to turn away. "I didn't let this happen to you," I found myself saying. "It was Zara who killed you who was sent by the Cosmic Order."
"Yes, but she was sent to kill you," Dark Seegnal declared. "I should have let her do just that!, but no, I had to play the hero and it cost me my life." He glared at me with his fried egg eyes. "I blame you for this! And now that you're here I shall make sure you stay with me for all eternity. Won't that be nice? When we first met I wanted you to be my queen. Now you can be the queen of the land of the dead!"
I stared at him. Then I lost it. And by lost it I mean, burst out laughing. "Wow, no one told me it was Halloween," I laughed.

The so-called Dark Seegnal stared at me. No doubt confused by my sudden burst of laughter.
After I stopped laughing I said, "Listen, I don't know who you are, but you are not Dark Seegnal."
"You doubt your eyes?" the bogus Dark Seegnal challenged.
"No, I don't doubt my eyes," I told him. "I doubt what they are seeing. See, I knew Dark Seegnal and what kind of man he was. After all, he once kidnapped me and tried to force me into becoming his queen. And I can think of a few words to describe him such as charming, liar, trickster, selfish, egomaniac, deceiver, but the one word I wouldn't call is vengeful, and believe me, Dark Seegnal had a lot to want revenge against me for. But all the times he tried to take me down it was to benefit himself. Not for revenge."
"Maybe this place can change a person."
"I suppose that is possible." I crossed my arms over my chest. "But I still don't think you're the real Dark Seegnal. So tell me who are you!"
The bogus Dark Seegnal melted away and standing in his place was a young woman with ratty brown hair, one green eye, and one red eye wearing a green jumpsuit.
She gave me a nasty look. "How clever of you," she said. "I didn't think an evolved monkey from a planet named after dirt would be smart enough to see through my disguise."
"You are the one called Totsie, aren't you?" I asked.
"How did you figure that out?"
"We evolved monkeys are sharper than you give us credit for," I told her. "The spirit of my Zeron crystal told me that you were in a dark place. I can't think of any place darker than this place. The only thing I can't figure out is how you knew about the history of me and Dark Seegnal."
