Manik's pov
I woke up feeling myra's leg on my back, I looked around but didn't see Nandini, then my eyes fell on the clock, it as 1:30 am. I got up after putting pillows on both sides of myra and walked to the bathroom but she wasn't there, I walked downstairs but there was no sign of nandini.
I ran back up to see if I can call her but her phone was switched off. My heart started to sink when my eyes fell on a piece of paper on the night stand on my side. I picked It up and found her writing.
'Hey Manik, I know you will hate that I did but I had to if I wanted to divert her attention. I promise ill be back, I will give you a call. I need you to take care of yourself and myra. I have a few things listed that myra does every day make sure she does them. I also have a few schools I called and myra has interviews there in a week so take her with you, pick the one you think is the best. I am so sorry Manik, I really am. I love you so damn much, ill see you soon mani' the note read and I felt tears making their way down my cheeks
"You cannot do this nandini, fuckkk" I grabbed my phone and called cabir
"I need you to trace Nandini's phone like right now" I screamed on the phone before he could even say anything
"Is she okay"
"I don't know caber, just get her phone traced, she fucking left me a note saying she will be back. Just trace her"
"Breath, ill be there and ill get our team on it" I cut the call hearing him
"Mumma" I heard myra, shit my scream woke her up
I sat beside her and she curled up to me as I picked her up in my arms.
"Mumma"
"Hi baby" I mummble kissing her cheek
"Papa, mumma kara hai" she asked
"Umm baby mumma had an emergency at home so she had to go but she kissed you before she left" and as soon as those words flew out of my mouth her eyes widened
"No, mumma" her eyes watered
"No shh, you cannot cry"
"Mumma" she cried
"Shh baby, mumma will be upset if she hears myra cried" I said and she shook her head
"Mumma, I want mumma" she cried
"Mumma said if myra cries she will not come back early" hearing this she wiped her face
"Sorry" she mumbled and I kissed her head
"No baby, can I tell you a secret" I asked and she nodded
"This is like a game, mumma said that if we stay happy then she will come back early" I said trying not to break down
"Really" she asked
"Yes and mumma even left us some schools that you have interviews in"
"School" she asked and I nodded
"Mumma and I talked about it" she said
"About schools" I asked and she nodded
"She will come back soon" myra asked and my heart broke
"Yes she will" I said trying not to cry
"Whats going on" navya and cabir both asked as they walked in
"Im not sure" I replied
"Aww baby come here" navya said taking myra as she looked agitated
"Mumma" she asked and navya kissed her head
"Mumma has to help her mom, you know that mumma is super helpful right"
"I know" she said and did grabby hands towards me
Navya put her in my arms and she rested her head on my chest as I patted her back which put her to sleep.
"I can't find anything" cabir said looking just as devastated as I am
"Cabir I can't do this without her" there was a plead in my voice
"I tried Manik but knowing Nandini'
"She will not come back before she gets what she is looking for" I finished his sentence
"Right"
"But please just trace her, try it, have everyone searching, anything cabir"
"Manik you cannot fall week, you need to take care of myra" navya said
"Why did she do that"
"She worries about you and myra. You know how much she loves you two"
"Navya I know that but leaving like this when I said I will handle it"
"She knows her step mom th best and she said she would come back right so she will"
"What if she gets hurts" I asked caressing myra's hair
"Don't have to think negatively, its Nandini, she is"
"A firecracker well quiet a stubborn one" I said chuckling and cabir nodded
"We got this man" cabir said and I nodded unwillingly
It's been three weeks, three fucking weeks, and I feel lost. I feel like I'm constantly running around but lifelessly. I try being strong for myra but it does nothing, she sees it, I know she does.
I have been sending a billion messages to Nandini every single day hoping she replies but there was nothing. It was a task to put myra to sleep because she cried a lot.
Right now I am sitting with myra in my arms, she was sleeping finally after crying for a while. I heard my phone ringing and I grabbed it.
'Shona' it said and I picked up that call quicker than ever
"Nandini"
"Manik" she said and finally after three weeks I heard her
"Where are you" I asked
"Can you come get me please" she asked and I could tell she was trying not to cry
"Ill be right there, stay on the phone please" I was begging
"I will" she said and I put myra down on the bed
"Nandini" I called and nothing, the line went dead
"Nandini, god damn it, nandini" I yelled running to cabir and navya
"Navya with myra now, cabir nadnini called get her phone traced now, she just called me"
"I know, I got the place, lets go" he said sending me the location and following me while navya made her way to myra
"Cabir drive as fas as you can okay"
"I know" that's all he said
The location was a couple hours away but cabit got us there faster and my heart was sinking, I hated this feeling.
"Back up" I asked and he nodded knowing exactly where I was going with it but before we could go in my phone beeped
It was from nandini's number, there were files and pictures so I quickly scanned it and saw things that could put her step mom away for life
"Cabir, forward these to the police" I said and he nodded
