After most of the Harbingers left, one seemed to have been waiting for you. He was wearing glasses, and had black hair. Soon, he went up to you.
"So you're the new harbinger? It's a pleasure to meet you." He smiled at you, you were unsure of what his intentions were, or if he even had any.
"Yeah I guess that's me," You were hesitant with saying this but everything had already been said and done.
"You sound unconfident about that, nonetheless, I should warn you. I think it's best if you stay away from Dottore, he is more commonly known as, 'The Doctor'."
"Whose that?" You weren't even sure to trust him about this, you didn't even know his name afterall.
"Did you see the man with pale blue hair? That's him, if you don't stay away from him he'll take your organs for research."
"Excuse me?" You were surprised, now you actually wanted to be cautious around him.
"Kidding, of course. Just be careful around here." It didn't seem like he was joking, but before you could ask him anything else he left, that always seemed to happen to you. Childe had left with the others unfortunately, just another reason to not forgive him. You however were left alone in this cold room, you still had his coat. You didn't know your way around the place, and he just left you? It made you mad but you decided just to leave the room
"You seem lost, do you need help?" You turned to see the same man you were warned about not long ago. After that warning that seemed more like a threat you wanted to run.
"Yes actually– uhm," You were nervous and hoped you didn't say anything to offend him by accident. "Is there anywhere I could possibly stay for the night?"
"There is, but it's very far away from here. Would you like me to guide you?"
"No–!" You regretted how quickly you said that, "No thank you is what I meant." You tensed up even more.
"Are you, afraid?" He smiled at you in a way that made you feel uneasy. You had to find Childe before you got murdered, or something simlar to that extent.
"I have to go now actually, I hope to see you around." You hoped the exact opposite of what you just had said and sped walk the other way. Thankfully, you bumped into Childe as soon as you turned the corner.
"I've been looking for you, where did you go?" You asked in a stress filled manner.
"Relax, I was just catching up with the others. It's not like you almost got murdered." He said in a joking tone.
"I'm pretty sure I almost did get murdered." You sighed and looked him dead in the eyes.
"What? Tell me what happened." He was honestly surprised at your statement but decided to hear you out. After telling him everything he understood. "Yeah maybe you should be more careful around him."
"How did I get here and already manage to piss someone off?"
"That's just how he is, don't tell him I said that though." He quickly said after.
After Childe took you to the nearest inn you sat on the bed. You had one month before you could start your mission, you wanted to look around the area to just get accustomed to it. You were relieved you remembered to bring extra clothes this time, so you were actually prepared.
When you were finally laying on the bed, you felt lonely. You were so used to sleeping next to Alhaitham for the past few days that you actually had trouble sleeping without feeling his presence there. You two were just friends, how could you feel this way towards him? You wondered if he felt the same way despite the consequences now.
You fell asleep after a while, but you still woke up tired. What do people who are a part of the Fatui even do? You heard a knock at your door and quickly got up to answer it.
"Sorry to wake you, but we have a meeting in less than twenty minutes. I suggest you get ready– oh and here are some new clothes Pierro wanted me to give you. Think of it as your uniform." It was Childe, who else would it be
"Thank you," You took the clothes out of his hands, "I'll be out right now"
You unfolded the clothes and looked at your new uniform, it looked nice and you actually admired how pleasing it looked. You locked the door and walked alongside Childe
"So what's the meeting going to be about?" You asked to not walk in silence the whole way there, although normally childe be the one starting the conversation.
"About your mission of course." He responded.
"Didn't we talk about it yesterday?"
"Not in full detail I suppose, Why else would we have the meeting?" He looked over at you and gave you his signature smile.
Once the both of you got to headquarters, you made your way to the meeting room and sat next to each other at the table. A few of the harbingers were looking at you. It made you nervous but knew to just ignore it. You didn't want to ruin your life even more at this point.
"Now that all of you are here– and I assume all of you know why we're having this meeting." Pierro started.
The meeting only lasted thirty minute and this was the last thing he said.
"Remember Y/n, we're all counting on you to get this information. Don't fail."
That last line sent shivers down your spine, it felt like he was staring into your soul. Now everyone was staring at you, you couldn't mess this up. How hard could this be? What you failed to realise was you were in love with Alhaitham, and if the plan set in your mind worked it would count as betraying him and losing his trust.
