Ever since Sloane Archibald was young, she had been busy. Tennis, student council, French classes, dinner parties, business events, and tutoring were all basic expectations from her parents, especially her mom.

So, she insisted on doing them all perfectly to impress her busy parents, because maybe if she worked hard enough, she'd get attention in the midst of their divorce. It worked, her dad celebrated her like his pride and joy and her mom got off her back for at least a day.

Perfectionism became innate. It gave her comfort. Doing things perfectly felt like love. The love she constantly sook out.

And right now, things certainly weren't perfect. She could take it when her friends lives weren't perfect, it sickly entertained her. She could take minor inconvenience's and find an astrological reason behind it. But this, this was not all happening simply because mercury was in retrograde.

She stared into her mirror, wiping dried mascara off of her face, not dropping eye contact with herself.
She applied new makeup, pulled her hair into a ponytail, and finally turned on her phone. Everything is fine.

Max

You owe me this you embarrassed me.
If you aren't here tomorrow I'm going to lose it. princess please

Megan
I'm so angry with you Sloane Anne Archibald. You aren't the daughter I raised. You disgust me with your wild behavior. I trained you to be a straight A all star and you've turned into a trashy party girl who belongs in Brownsville. I just wanted a good daughter and I got you. We'll talk about this another time, I'm sick of thinking about you're behavior tonight. Go to your fathers.

She quickly deleted Todd and her mothers texts. "Sloane hon, your daddy had something come up so he won't be able to come to your tennis match. We're both really sorry." Gwen frowned, looking at Sloane from the couch as she sipped some herbal concoction.

"Oh, it's alright. Thanks for telling me." She grimaced, grabbing her tennis bag, walking out the door to get into her car and light a cigarette as they drove. At least Gwen was normal.

"Max." She stated, walking up behind him as she entered the school building, sure she still reeked of smoke but had no care to cover it up.

"Sloane." He turned around quickly, grabbing her hand and pulling her into a classroom, shutting the door behind them.

"People are going to think we're fucking ya know." She sighed, sitting on the teachers desk.

"Oh well, people think that anyways baby." She grinned, max always made her feel normal, but things were normal. Everything was fine.
